Hammel is going on bereavement list and Grimm is back. Grimm was sent down 4 days ago and would have needed to stay down unless there was an injury, or, apparently, a bereavement movement.

Hammel isn't missing a start and with 2 off days coming up he is going to have 8 days off.

So is this bereavement legit, or is his cat sick or something? I hope it's roster shenanigans as an excuse to get Grimm back early with a recently active bullpen.

Maybe he needs a few days to get over the loss of his 6th inning at bat last night, as it came practically out of left field after he'd been pitching so well.

I see what you did there.

With the off day Monday and the Cubs electing to go with the extra arm , they should have the bullpen start a game this weekend and give the rotation even more rest. Montgermey is still stretched out from starting with the Mariners and Grimm can go multiple innings Sunday before he's optioned down.

Grimm going back down to make room for Hammel coming off bereavement list. No word if Grimm is going to just go home and pout or not. Edited by Cubswin11

wouldn't Grimm be the one pouting?
