somebody better check on jesse rogers, don't know how he's going to live without 3am around

Seeing LaStella jettisoned of this team or it coming out that seal boy was a real prick about this whole deal hopefully stops Rogers man love for 3 am

this move makes no sense to me because LaStella is a better player in every aspect.

Seriously. Don't get this.

I like it for the time being. Lastalla gets a bunch of ABs in Iowa and stays sharp. Cubs try strike lighting in a bottle with hopes of a Coghlan 2015 showing up. Maddon gets the luxury of "rest" for Heyward and protect Fowlers hammy.

The Fowler hammy/soreness thing is probably the reason this move was made. Maddon said Fowler wasn't in the lineup today because he still had soreness (didn't specify hammy) and that they were going to try to protect him with frequent rest. So the Cubs wanted another OF up here.

Baez playing well is the other big driver, if he's going to see a bit more playing time against RHP then La Stella isn't going to do much more than pinch hit. Coghlan on the other hand has a chance to play more often, and they don't get rid of anyone by waiting until injury/September to bring back TLS.

I have a feeling we've seen the last of La Stella in a Cub uniform.

Why do you say that? He's supremely useful as a reserve infielder(especially on this team that has SS covered and several RH hitting IF), he's not going to start making real money until after next year at the least, and I don't think he has a ton of trade value since teams rightfully won't see him as a starting IF.

Just a hunch really, that I think he'll be part of a trade between now and Monday for a bigger long-term piece that the Cubs have been rumored to be acquiring since the Chapman deal.

I was thinking that too, but I'm not too confident on us adding a SP at these prices. Guess he could go with Zagunis or something for Reddick.

What's the Rogers/3AM stuff? somehow I've missed this. Maybe don't read enough Rogers.

http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/cubs/post/_/id/37892/3-am-tommy-la-stella-one-of-many-cubs-heroes-in-another-rout-of-reds

So when fill-in leadoff man Tommy La Stella -- Joe Maddon calls him "3 a.m." -- worked the count full after starting 1-2, he had already done his job by seeing some pitches.

“He [La Stella] loves 1-2 counts and he loves them at 3 o'clock in the morning,” Maddon said jokingly after the Cubs' 9-0 win.

Ever since then, Rogers has continually called La Stella 3am. He's defended La Stella at every possible chance. He even recently changed his twitter avatar to a pic of him and La Stella.

weird guy

Absolutely, and it's not even just about La Stella. He has a lot of really odd baseball opinions for someone that's around the team as much as he is. He's also extremely sensitive to criticism.

He also bitches every time there is a long rain delay. God forbid he have to hang out at Wrigley Field extra hours.
