It's too bad they have a 2 person per country limit on the gymnastics all-around, would've been cool to see the US sweep the medals. As it stands, Raisman was better than 3rd place by 1.433, the same as the gap between 3rd and 11th. And Biles was 2.100 better than Raisman!

In the team competition it was just insane how much better the US was than everybody else. Just near-perfection one after the other. Biles had a really good beam routine that was probably the worst thing any of the gymnasts did because she shuffled her feet a couple of times.

They're a boring, sloppy, corrupt, low-rated mess. What were you expecting, Cobra to parachute in and kidnap the athletes?

considering this has basically happened before except in addition to kidnapping them, they also murdered them, probably not a great joke to make.

Yeah, but Cobra would have done it with lasers and held everyone for ransom until they got the underwater crystals they needed for their earthquake machine.

what has been boring about them? unless you mean boring in the sense that nothing disastrous has happened

the olympics don't seem to be as big of a disaster as we were hoping it would be.

The games have been fantastic in spite of NBC. If you haven't enjoyed the swimming, I feel sorry for you.

RIO DE JANEIRO — Four American swimmers, including the six-time gold medalist Ryan Lochte, were held up at gunpoint early Sunday morning, according to the United States Olympic Committee.

Also robbed, according to a subsequent statement from the American committee, were Gunnar Bentz, Jack Conger and Jimmy Feigen.

“Their taxi was stopped by individuals posing as armed police officers who demanded the athletes’ money and other personal belongings,” a spokesman for the United States Olympic Committee said. “All four athletes are safe and cooperating with authorities.”

Ryan Lochte and 3 other swimmers robbed at gunpoint. #Rio

I mean, it was a full 16 minutes later. Come on.

Ha. Of course. So ya, I started to type it and then my kid started screaming. Came back later and finished. This message board needs one of those "new messages posted" features while you are typing for dopes like me.

Deadspin has an article about Mary Decker falling after colliding with Zola Budd in the 1984 olympics in the 3000m run, but the article was focused on the photographers that took pictures that day, which I thought was boring as hell. So I was looking up more info about the rivalry and how the collision happened, etc.

Apparently Zola Budd ran barefoot!

Let no one ever argue against sliding in to fist base again by saying " If it's faster then why don't people dive for the finish line in track?"

An overhead television camera suspended by cables crashed to the ground in the Olympic Park on Monday, injuring seven people including two children, in the latest of a string of mishaps to hit South America’s first Games.

I was fully expecting one of those to fall into the pool during a race and electrocute the entire field of swimmers

I always wonder about them falling, but I doubt there was any risk of electrocution.
