Mike Fiers and AJ Hinch have been arguing in the dugout about something (presumably the way Fiers handed Hinch the ball when he was removing him from the game). A lot of Astros have been involved in the argument and it's slowly simmering over a couple of innings now.

For some reason Marwin Gonzalez stared down the A's pitcher after hitting a HR and very slowly trotted around the bases.

Definitely edgy game for some reason that the A's announcers can't figure out.

Fiers had already allowed 4 runs, let 5 straight batters to reach base and was at 70+ pitches in the 4th inning. Yet somehow was pissed he was taken out of the game. That was weird.

Sale threw 8 IP of 1 H ball and handed a 3-0 lead over to Robertson who allowed 4 runs in the bottom of the 9th. Hoping for some awesome Hawk Harrelson material out of this.

For a second he sounded like he was going to flip out, but retreated into his typical pouting silence.

I'm surprised he even said "And we lose this game 4-3." I figured after "High and deep", he wouldn't say anything.

That's an absolute gut punch of a game for the Sox. I was watching some of the middle innings and Sale was just dealing, so I was sure the game was all but over and I switched to another game. When I saw the final I was shocked. No idea how Ventura justifies not letting Sale at least start the ninth.

Seems like we'll be catching the White Sox at the right time then

I hope their souls are totally defeated and they roll over for 4 straight games

Though not a superstitious person, I'm convinced that reveling in the White Sox free fall brought on our bad mojo. Let's just let them suck in peace. At least until we see them next week, by which time they could have beefed up their roster with Casey Kelly, Domonic Brown, and Aubrey Huff.

So Jameson Taillon took a line drive off the head tonight, ball ended up in LF, and he somehow stayed in the game. You'd think with the emphasis on concussion protocol he'd be forced to come out of the game.

The cardinals being 6.5 games back if they win today and tomorrow kinda makes me a little uncomfortable.

After tomorrow, they have three against the Dodgers, three at the Mets and four at the Marlins. Meanwhile, we get the Brewers, White Sox and Mariners.

I'd be somewhat surprised if 2-3 games aren't added to the lead over that time.

That's loser talk

Big time. Uncomfortable that a worse team than us is way behind us?

White Sox lost again to the Mariners on a walk off homer, this time in the 11th. They were up 5-2 but gave up 2 in the 7th and 1 in the eighth.

Hawk gave a nice "Uh oh" right when the walkoff was hit.

Fair enough but it feels so close. And the cardinals do annoying things. I want them to be at least 15 back.

Holliday just got beaned in the cheek and nose. Sounds like it just skimmed him but he had to leave the game

And Piscotty predictably follows that up with a pinch-hit oppo bomb to tie it up. horsefeathers you, San Diego

San Diego has the temerity to sweep us in a double header, and then go and get swept and lose another one to the Cardinals. Thanks for horsefeathering nothing guys
