Miggy gets a runner over to 3rd with less than 2 outs with a passed ball...shocking.

And the run scores, thanks Miggy!

oh my god Javy is giving us the full Javy Superstar Experience today. It's too bad those days only come like once every other week...

Maddon does like to reward his guys after good performances though. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get another start tomorrow.

Dodgers now doing their graphic about the Cubs billy goat curse. I'm glad no one in LA is allowed to watch Dodger games.

let them eat goat

i dont think anyone in LA eats anything besides kale salads, in-and-out-burger, and protein shakes.

Arrieta to Dodgers in 2018 confirmed.

Does Heyward's swing look a little different to anyone else? I can't put my finger on it. But it just seems like there are fewer moving parts or something. It looks a little smoother. I've thought all year that it's looked like junk and that there is just too much going on. The first two ABs looked more pleasing aesthetically.

For real, though, after a dong, now I'm starting to wonder...

I wouldn't be upset if you wrote an article exploring the idea.

I wouldn't know where to start. I have no idea what I am looking at with a swing. Other than that I think his looks ugly, and it didn't look as ugly today.

are you referring to the quieting down of the toe tap that the Cubs Related blog posted about a few weeks back or something more?

No. The toe tap looked the same to me. I am talking more about what is going on with his hands and other stuff in close to his body. Like it didn't seem as herky jerky to me those first two at bats when I typed that. It seemed smooth. Usually it looks like his hands and arms are going in different directions or something. I don't know. It just looked more under control.

Is it tougher to hit at Wrigley at night regardless of wind direction? Seems like we've struggled the most offensively at home during night games.

the idea of anybody not named zobrist winning this is laughable

They are pretty damn close in terms of may numbers. Zobrist defenders will say his OBP was almost .500 and had a higher overall OPS. Murphy defenders will say Murphy had a higher average and slightly more power, as well as struck out less.

Zobrist in May: .406/.483/.653/1.137, 6 HR, 7 2B, 25 RBI, 16 BB, 16 K, 25 R

Murphy in May: .416/.424/.673/1.096, 7 HR, 8 2B, 23 RBI, 2 BB, 12 K, 17 R

I personally think Zobrist should have won it, but I don't think its laughable that Murphy won it

yeah i think here they looked at AVG / hitting streak and stopped there, because Zobrist shreds Murphy to pieces in WPA and WAR

also Trout probably should've won, but i'm sure that's true just about every month

except a higher average and fewer strikeouts don't matter at all when you have a significantly higher wOBA (or OPS)]

and defense is part of playing too

if anyone else was worthy it was marcell ozuna

Yeah I didn't look up split stats for defense or WAR or whatever, just a quick glance at the numbers and they look pretty even.

The on-base advantage is way more significant than any slight advantages Murphy had in BA or SLG -- that's like one double falling in. Zobrist holding a .059 OBP advantage is much more significant. He was on base quite a bit more.

Again I think Zobrist should have won for the reasons you listed, I just don't think its laughable that Murphy won. More like annoying.

I want to buy a beer for Kyle Hendricks and talk to him about Philosophy or like, 19th century European History (both subjects, I assume, he could talk your ear off of)
