2-6 over the last 8 and one game away from losing 4 of their last 5 series. Still not appropriate to be upset with what's going on?

Rizzo doing absolutely nothing, in my opinion. Like someone said the other day, this is the crap about baseball. Like last year we sweep the Mets in the regular season and then could do nothing right for 4 straight. All you can do in baseball is get to the playoffs as many times as possible and hope you can win one of them.

The pitching has been pretty damn good. Tonight was just stupid just like yesterday.

It depends. Do you mean "be upset?" Or do you mean "whine incessantly?"

Yeah I mean I made like what, 4 posts in the game thread. God forbid I question a team that's busy coughing up all that early season lead they built up.

I mean, really, our process, as Joe would like to call it, has been good (aside from Rizzo and Baez forgetting how to hit and Soler still being a major-leaguer for some reason). Hard-hit balls, lots of baserunners, good pitching. We've just encountered a bewildering amount of fluky BABIP luck and sequencing the last two weeks. The only thing you can do is shake your fist at God, really.

Correct. This is the most difficult month of the season schedule-wise, 18 games against playoff contenders. The Cubs are 10-4 in those games. Despite losing 8 of 12 they're still playing at a 109 win pace overall. The pitching has continued to be solid. Things are more than fine.

Well, they still have a big lead. And they still have all those awesome players. Lighten up a little.

Strange that we lose this game in the 9th while our 7th 8th and 9th inning guys do not pitch. Not really sure why Warren needed a 2nd inning there.

Rondon hasn't pitched since last Wednesday! Strop and Grimm have each pitched an inning in that span. So 2 IP for your top 3 relievers combined in the last 5 games and you let Warren pitch a 2nd inning

I think it's fine to express frustration so long as perspective is maintained. Being a well-adjusted person doesn't mean having no emotions whatsoever. People differ in their levels of expression, is all.

your posts give the impression that you lose perspective several times in each individual game.

Really no point in watching this team right now.

Well, being above the Cardinals [expletive] was fun while it lasted.

This is the worst post in the history of NSB(B). Congrats

They're going to make up 8 games on us this series.

Read the expletive as "BS". We overcame the BS in the playoffs and the first 2 head to heads of this year, but the last 2 have been typical Cardinals garbage.

I am amazed that I'm being bombarded w/ "Theo needs to bring up Albert Almora from Iowa!!! That will fix the offense!!" So about 3 1/2 months of putting up an OPS north of .750 for the first time since low A ball makes him some sort of savior? Holy horsefeathers.

In the same league Ryan Kalish is dominating in

LOL, yeah, that was pretty much my response to one guy. He then replied w/ Almora's triple slash. I responded telling him to look up the I-Cubs numbers as a team. It's been :crickets: since then.

The only thing that frustrates me about this stretch is not having Schwarber, you have to think with his bat/approach in the lineup we win at least 1 of the games we lost. Especially considering how many were close games, a dong could've turned the tide and also that his abs are largely going to Baez, Soler, Federowicz, etc. who have been doing next to nothing.

Hard to say, I like to think of Schwarbs as the dong hitting machine he was most of last year but he had a 6 week stretch where he was pretty mediocre too. Team is very streaky. Not sure if it's by chance or something the Cubs are doing that creates very streak hitters.

I think that's just baseball and mostly every team has that. I doubt the Cubs carry any more streakiness/variance than every other team does.

I know that's just frustratIon talking. That said I'm frustrated in general with how streaky Rizzo is which seems to be more than the average hitter with his skill level. He was downright dreadful for a lot of the 2nd half last year, and the last 10 games or so but he's also been insanely good for stretches. If there is a way to do so I want to limit streakiness as much as possible as I am scared it's going to show up negatively at the worst time this October

Maybe it's just me but Maddon has made some really curious decisions over the last week or so and i'm not sure why LaStella wasn't in the lineup tonight instead of Baez.

I just assumed he wanted Javy's glove at 3b since Lackey lives in the strike zone so much; wanted his best defenders out there.

Joe's bullpen management can be very confusing at times. It's generally good in the important games so it's not a big worry, but there have been head scratchers at times.
