i dont get why lackey was getting all bunched up over the Braves player trying to bunt to (get on base / break up the no-hitter)

immature, its no different than Sean Rodriguez getting irrationally pissed at Strop for quick-pitching.

you don't get why?

when did you start watching baseball?

this is hardly the first time some meathead has gotten rankled about something like this.

It was meatball'ish, sure. However, the difference for me is that Rodriguez made a spectacle out of it (during the WC game & yesterday).

The only difference is that one is on the Cubs and one isn't. Lackey is a turd, but he's a turd that fills a necessary role on our favorite team.

i wish our free agent veteran leader wasn't making the team look like a bunch of humorless play the game right way pricks. i really hope there's some way someone can talk to him and tell him that's not how we do things, but i guess that's very unlikely.

Angry meatball pitcher signs to a new team and continues to be an angry meatball pitcher,

On the bright side at least he doesn't lack courage like Jay Cutler!

I personally, sitting at home, have no problem pimping home runs (and love it when my guys do it), but I can definitely understand being upset about it from his perspective but there's no reason to cry about it in the media or retaliate later.

100% agree.

I'm all for dingers, pimping dingers, barking at pimpers and even a little back and forth from the dugouts.

But then it's over.

If you want to drill a guy in the ass about it, i don't really care. you pimp a HR and find a pitch thrown at your hip pocket the next AB, you can't be surprised. I don't like the high and tight horsefeathers or the whining about it though.

I'm not saying pitchers should throw at a guy, but as long is it's at his lower back or ass, I don't really care.

I have a problem with purposely throwing at anyone. Because that's childish and dumb.

If you want revenge, get him out 4-5 times next time you face them. Maybe show him up after a strikeout. But throwing a hard object at him at 80+mph....I don't like it.

i guess we can post good things about lackey in this thread too?

so far, in 48.1 innings, he's 3.54 ERA/3.16 FIP/3.21 xFIP w/8.75 K/9 and 1.86 BB/9, good for 1.1 fWAR in 7 starts, or a 4.7 fWAR pace assuming 30 starts.

It's dumb to give free base runners no matter what. You want to get back at a guy, like Banedon said, go get him out every ab the rest of the game.

This really is the best collection of Cubs fans on the internet.

I'm not advocating for it. But it's part of baseball that doesn't bother me.

I very much sincerely underestimated how much of a dingus he'd be. Everyone said he was an horsefeathers but I thought that was residual Cardinals hate but no, the guy is an obvious dingus.

He's pitched very well for us though

its like 2007-2008 when we had Jason Marquis who was relatively decent for us, given his abysmal 2006 with the Cards (6.02 ERA)

or Jim Edmonds 2008

Edmonds was awesome, though. His bat flip at the STL dugout alone redeemed him for me.

I just want to minimize bum ass teams throwing out our guys and maybe hitting someone in the head or the wrist and it actually hurting us.

The best thing we can do to bum ass teams is beat them and not getting into beanball matches with them.
