Yeah. I've seen Almora make some legitimately great plays, but that catch was definitely an Edmonds job.

He seemed like he was intentionally not running as fast as he could to get to that ball so he could dive.

Edmondsing is slowing down subtly while the ball is in flight, the result being that you just barely get to the ball and have to stretch or dive and look like you made an amazing play at the edge of your range.

 

Almora may not be doing it on purpose for highlights, it may just be the confidence that he's got the ball tracked, but he does it a lot.

The last few steps look a bit awkward, but if Almora makes that catch look harder than it should be, it's because he has terrific range to get to the spot where he can slow down and still make the catch. That ball is smoked on a line. He gets to the spot, which is slightly behind him about 70 feet away, in less than 3 seconds.

I would need to see proof that contact to glove was less than 3 seconds. Looked closer to 4 to me, but I didn't exactly download the video and triple check.

 

Someone hurry up and mainstream Field F/X so we can settle stuff like this.
