Will be played the preceding Saturday, with the exception of 2021 and 2022, when NYE is a Friday (federal holiday) and a Saturday respectively.

Now everyone that complained about this can move on to complaining about how the playoff isn't big enough (I assume).

Yep. 6 is historically the ideal number (average number of teams in the final regular season poll in a major conference with 1 loss or an undefeated minor conference team ranked in the top 10 of the polls), but everyone will want 8.

Stop pretending like it wasn't a stupid idea to have them on new years eve.

Maybe it was stupid. It wasn't a crime against humanity, which is what it was treated as by just about everybody. I thought it was a cool idea to have 6 awesome games over 2 days, but it didn't catch on.

So A&M decided to create a song for women.

I don't think anybody treated it as a crime against humanity. They simply ridiculed the stupid powers that be that made a dumb decision.

That's the least offensive slide based on what I saw on Twitter.

Sadly that is true. Two coaches were suspended for 2 weeks without pay. I knew Jim Turner was an idiot, just had no idea it was to this level. Somewhere Richie Incognito is laughing. I'm sure recruits mom's will enjoy asking questions regarding this.

Auburn's 5 star 1st string RB Jovon Robinson dismissed from the team. He must have killed someone to actually get kicked off that team.

Twice, isn't it?

Less important, but ND's Aliz'e Jones, the team's second-leading returning receiver, becomes the winner of the annual 'which expected key performer(s) at ND is going to miss the year due to academics' lottery.

He should have gone to Baylor then.

Leonard Fournette sprains ankle, obviously he should pack it up and ship off for the NFL now.

God I hate sports media sometimes.

Anyways, I'm really excited for college football to be back. My picks for the playoff this year are:

-Clemson

-Michigan

-Tennessee

-Houston

Why would anyone want to kill someone twice?

Non cryptic version:

Five Notre Dame football players were arrested Friday night after police stopped them for speeding and reported finding a handgun and marijuana in the car.

Senior safety Max Redfield, redshirt freshman cornerback Ashton White, freshman wide receiver Kevin Stepherson, sophomore running back Dexter Williams and sophomore linebacker Te'von Coney were each charged with possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor. Redfield, Stepherson and Williams were also charged with possession of a handgun without a license, also a misdemeanor.

In a separate incident, Notre Dame cornerback Devin Butler was arrested early Saturday morning on preliminary charges of battery to law enforcement and resisting law enforcement in a separate incident.

An Indiana State Police trooper stopped the five players in Fulton County for driving 73 mph in a 60 mph zone, according to an ISP news release. The officer reported smelling marijuana coming from the car, and a police dog indicated that there were drugs in the vehicle. Officers found a handgun and marijuana after searching the car, according to the report.

Meh, a precedent has been set, so they'll get off with a warning due to the fact that they sweat during the summers while the rest of us sit in the air conditioning.

they're too far north for that

The Ohio State would like a word.

The annual preseason purge continues!

Very uninformed speculation I'm hearing is that the gun belonged to Dexter Williams. I'm realllllly getting sick of this horsefeathers.

Apparently the gun was Max Redfield's, and he was already suspended for last year's bowl for a behavior issue. So he was kicked off the team. Devin Butler suspended indefinitely, the other four subject to internal/school discipline but no suspensions - yet.
