Shaping up to be a blowout

Well this comment surely won't end up looking stupid.

The US led big after the first session in France in 2018 and got blown out.

I didn't see a blowout this big happening. This might be the last ride for a number of European horses and there's not nearly the kind of young up-and-comers that the US has. I see the Americans dominating for years.

You're welcome for reversing your jinx.

The talent level is definitely biased towards the US in the near future, but the euros have seemed to excel at the team events more than the US.

Sheboygan is contageous, it seems.

I was out there yesterday and it was awesome. What a horsefeathering ass kicking by the USA. The Euros don’t really have a chance to beat this USA team for a while on talent alone. Next President’s Cup should be good though since that’s US vs The World and The world gets to add the likes of Ancer, Niemann, Im, Cam Smith, Louis, Hideki, Ortiz, etc.

The Internationals had that same team and lost in 2019. The International team is formidable, but I don’t see them winning on US soil in 2022.

Oh the US will be favored, as they should be, assuming this rough core is the same and healthy. But being able to add some of the other international guys I mentioned above to the Euros (sure I am forgetting a guy or three) certainly helps their team and I’d expect a more competitive event. The Euros by themselves aren’t that strong right now and have guys not fulfilling promises on the young side (Hatton, Fleetwood, Fitzpatrick, Pieters, Wallace, etc), Rory kinda stalling out the last few years and also have guys aging out (Poulter, Sergio, Casey, Westwood from this team and Rose and Stenson not even making it).

1 year is a long time from now too for the US, DJ isn’t that young anymore, Koepka and Cantlay have had injury issues and aren’t that young, Bryson may do some dumb Bryson stuff, Spieth is high variance, etc. I’d expect Burns and Zalatoris to be on the team next time, maybe Homa and maybe Wolff and Rickie if they figure things out, which it seems like they’re on the right track. But yeah, they certainly still have the best players and younger core with JT, Scheffler, Finau, Morikawa, Xander, Berger.

DJ is old, fine. He just went 5-0 and is the #2 ranked player in the world.

He was awesome this week and he’s still damn near best in the world. But like I said, 1-2 years is a long time for golf with the fickle game it is and the US will, should, be favored in the next Presidents and Ryder Cup barring a bunch of injuries or performance fall off. They have too much talent and better younger guys right now. But it wouldn’t be crazy for a 38-40 year old DJ to fall off some here in the next 2 years, other guys have had some injury issues, performance variance gaps etc.

There’s a lot of non-Europe worldwide talent right now that will be added to the Presidents Cup team and I think adding them makes the next President Cup interesting. With factoring in everything.

I’m surprised this new Saudi League vs the PGA thing isn’t getting a little more attention. Sounds like there’s a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes now and some significant PGA players are looking at jumping. The PGA has threatened to ban any player for life if they join this new league. They’re going to be getting so much more money, allegedly, by the rumors $30-50 mil guaranteed salary per year plus huge tournament purses. And only a 12 event season.

It’s not an overly serious event (he self admitted he’s not really able to compete against the big dogs anymore) but still is crazy he’s able to golf to some level after the accident.

ESPN streaming full rounds of golf from the start has been an awesome addition. Don’t know why it took until 2022 to do this, but great to have and never made sense why they didn’t broadcast it somewhere. Up until last year half the field would basically be done for the day when the live broadcast came on.

ESPN just took over the streaming services for PGA Tour Live. So, this has been available previously (last year was NBC Sports Gold and Amazon Prime) and still is as a subscription service. This is the first year I've subscribed and I love it. Additionally, once they get back to the mainland they're going to have 4 streams available on the PGA Tour Live stuff. Not just featured groups.

PGA Tour Live and the NBC thing were complete trash and not worth the money, both were ridiculously overpriced and hard to navigate.

Any fans of Stacked Golf here? I find that I’m addicted to buying used golf clubs. It started with me looking for a cheap 3 wood for a player on my golf team and now I have 11 sets of irons, over 20 putters and a bag full of wedges. The hardest club to find at goodwill type places seems to be a 5 wood

..... and a bag full of wedges.

Gonna be tough to break 100, no?

If I was going to use only wedges I think I could still break 100 if I can putt with a putter. That might be easier than using the titleist blades that I have.
