It's the one club in my bag I never know what to expect on contact. Mine is a RocketBallz 3 wood. With all Taylor Mades other than 60 and 64 degree Cleveland wedges, I try not to make my bag look like a complete mish mash, but I've yet to find a Taylor Made 3 wood that I feel comfortable with.

Have you tried the M3? I tried one but it was a senior flex (or as they call it "M for mature" flex) and it felt like a buggy whip. I liked the way the club head set up.

No. I haven't tried anything newer than the Rocketballz, and I didn't even buy the Rocketballz 3 wood new. I bought it from a friend who bought the M3. I'll try to hit his tomorrow. Now that I have a 3 iron that I can hit 220-230, I only even bother with my 3w once a round at the most.

Tiger made the cut today (-1 which also was the cut line) overall I think I he looks quite solid. He won’t win this weeekend but he looks strong and not held back by anything physically, he’s driving the piss out of the ball (was out driving his partners Reed and Hoffman most holes) his touch on approach shots, around the green/putting seems a bit rusty but that’s to be expected. With how he looks now I think with the feel coming back he’ll win a tournament this year (not a major necessarily).

the swing he took here, my god. i think the back is ok

his driver has been a bit of a mess (good distance but going off in all directions), but he hit some great shots today. it's just great to see him back and looking healthy and getting right into the grind of 4 days of golf by making the cut should be huge for him going into the rest of the season

On PTI the other day they suggested that he'll need to play a lot more than he used to in order to sharpen his game enough to win. Might be the worst advice anyone can give him considering his injuries.

It's fun to watch this golf tournament, but it sucks to play that course. I'd play just about any other course before I would play Torrey Pines, and I get the discount rate being a SD resident.

-3 overall and will finish in the top 25-35 depending where the rest of the field finishes today for Tiger. He also got fucked out of a birdie when some dick bag in the gallery yelled "get in the hole" in the middle of a makable birdie putt that you could tell screwed him up. Overall not bad at all, all things considered with some especially tough wind conditions today and this field is about as good as you're going to have competition wise for a non-major.

Tiger with the highest recorded swingspeed on Tour this year today at 129 MPH. Short game looks really good. A lot of players bunched near the lead, but he’s got a great chance to win tomorrow.

He’s not “back” as we’ll never see a golfer dominate like he did again with how talented the field is these days but he’s back

Sentence needed a reference to his back.

I was reading an article in Golf Digest (if you buy anything from Global Golf you get a free subscription) about what people thought of Tiger's chances of winning the Masters. A lot of people were saying that they couldn't see it since he'd have to play great and other talented people would all have to not play as well. It occurred to me that this is true but it's also true of whoever wins.

To win the Masters, Tiger will have to be able to hit his driver more accurately.

He shouldn’t use his drive much, if at all, at Augusta. He should using his 3-wood or 2-iron off the tee nearly every hole.

First thought was that Augusta is a lot longer course than Copperhead, but I looked it up and it's only ~100 yards difference. He should stick with the same gameplan and leave the driver home. Crazy to think that a player can do that on a course that's ~7400 yards long.

The guys that he'll have to beat will be using their drivers. Have to believe that at least a couple of them will keep it in the fairway. That gives them a competitive edge over Tiger whose iron play was really good at Copperhead. But it's a lot easier hitting a wedge into a green than a 7 iron.

A better question might be if Tiger's ego will allow him to watch as people out drive him all day.

Seeing Tiger Woods yank his tee shot OB makes him seem so much more vulnerable than we had ever seen him before. Up to that point, he had put together a great round then he does what one of us would do. I wonder what that will do to his confidence.

Tiger being the Vegas favorite to win the Masters seems....premature

It just means tons of people were betting on him.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the betting opened with him as the favorite. The actual betting just moves the odds

They also project for those sorts of things.

The public is excited about Tiger and likes to bet hm and they know they can make more money by offering less favorable odds on him.

I don't get why people bet on who's going to win a particular golf tournament. There's at least 20 guys that could win a major tournament.

Then take the field

Back when I worked at a golf course we would have pools for the US open where you'd pick 4 golfers and added up the money they won to determine the winner. It was really picking 3 golfers since everyone always had Tiger as one of their 4. I guess Dustin Johnson would be the closest to that these days.

I think Rickie Fowler breaks through this year.
