Or by the end of the day.

Well, I guess Mbappe is going to need 5 against Iraq.

Seriously, these two are going to put the WC goal scoring record out of sight for anyone else on the future.

Having Messi and Mbappe go back and forth scoring goals on the same day is amazing.

it rules so hard we get to watch legends bag a brace in so many of these games

the only major damper is American stadiums only have the same 3 fuckass Bon Jovi, Killers & Journey songs on near exclusive rotation

Kind of ironic that Algeria vs Austria is the 3rd group game in a few days when it was Austria and West Germany disgracing themselves by playing for 1-0 scoreline in 1982 that got Algeria knocked out of the World Cup and the reason why 3rd group stage matches are now played simultaneously. Would be fun to see some Algerian revenge.

England gonna England.

1) I know what it feels like to get a 0-0 draw against England

2) I know what its like to get a disappointing result against Ghana

3) I know what it feels like for a player to have the ball come to them right in front of the net and sky it in the dying minutes of a scoreless game

This game really speaks to me as a USMNT fan

Seemed like Ghana was pretty content to play for a draw considering it virtually guarantees they advance.

What we know after 2 rounds:

Mexico, USA, Germany and Argentina clinched their group.

France, Norway and Colombia clinched the knockout round.

Haiti, Turkiye, Tunisia, Jordan and Panama have been eliminated.

6 matches per day over the next 4 days with only 2 completely meaningless duds in USA-Turkiye and Argentina-Jordan.

Most interesting games to watch should be France-Norway, Portugal-Colombia, Uruguay-Spain, Canada-Switzerland, Bosnia-Qatar, Paraguay-Australia, Cabo Verde-Saudi Arabia, Egypt-Iran and Croatia-Ghana.

Just give me a winner in Bosnia-Qatar wo we don’t have to worry about getting Ecuador or Senegal in the R32.

I obviously wanted Qatar over Bosnia, but when Bosnia took a 2-0 lead I started rooting for them because the last thing we need is a draw here.  Now its 2-1 and getting a bit nerve-racking

Oh Canada, instead of finishing first and getting 2 home games in the knockout round, they instead get to travel to LA to likely play South Korea in what would definitely be a road environment.

So unless a really weird and unlikely confluence of events occurs, the US will be facing Bosnia in the R32.

That scenario is none of Groups A, C, D and F have a 3rd place knockout round qualifier which is probably unlikely.

There's an even rarer scenario where Bosnia still ends up not finishing among the 8 best 3rd place teams.

South Africa beats South Korea to advance.

Korea could still advance but it will come down to other results. I believe as of now they're only ahead of Scotland in the three groups that have finished.

My bad Canada, I was unaware you had the forethought to know that South Africa would beat South Korea to finish second, so now it's Canada-South Africa in the round of 32.

They're still 94% to advance. 3 points with a -1 differential is a good spot to be in.

The only confirmed matchup so far

Not to wish it into existence, but Australia and Paraguay have all the incentive in the world tomorrow to agree to a draw and both advance to the knockouts. In that scenario, Paraguay would finish 3rd and likely play Germany, which isn't ideal, but a loss puts Paraguay dangerously near the bottom of potential 3rd place teams in the pecking order with at best a -3 differential and just 1 goal scored thus far.

USA chances to reach the QF seem to be really high?  Bosnia and then either Egypt or South Korea most likely.

The start time for this game tonight is actually pretty wild.  Here is what time the game starts locally for the 4 participants:

USA ET: 10pm (75% of US population is in ET or CT)

Paraguay: 11pm

Türkiye: 5am

Australia: Noon

Literally only convenient for the US West Coast (which I get it, the game is hosted there) and Australia.
