Wouldn't that be a 6 and a 4 a "centre-half?" Anyway, point taken.

Holy horsefeathers that’s scary.

Same thing that happened to an opposing player against Spurs in an FA Cup game a decade ago. I saw that one live.

it's depraved and indefensible that there aren't "streaker protocols" used by broadcasts when a player potentially may die on the field like that

I didn't find the coverage garish. At first it wasn't clear what had happened and I thought he might have just torn up his knee or something. It was his eyes that indicated a serious issue first and then when they started CPR - at that point the cameras cut away. The only poor thing was the announcer going on about how important he is to the team as if that mattered. They didn't show the replays over and over.

I can’t believe they actually finished the match today. I know it’s a tournament so you can’t wait a week but play it tomorrow.

Finland doesn’t play until Wednesday and Denmark not until Thursday so going Sunday and Wednesday is something teams do all the time in the club game. And if Finland says they want the extra day, move the game to Thursday also. Sorry to the broadcasters if it messes up their precious TV schedule but a dude could have died today. Give the players the night to mentally recover.

I’m not overly critical of the broadcast because it’s tough to know how to handle that, but those poor studio commentators were forced to stretch for way too long. You can’t force a bunch of old jocks to cover that for that long.

the story is Eriksen called his teammates and asked them to play. Not sure that means they should have. Physically, it would be tough to gear back up tomorrow I think. I do have to say Schmeichel saves that goal 96 out of 100 times . . .

I agree with you. The emotion you saw on them was very real and I don't think they knew what to say.

That’s true that it could have been tough to play the next day, though PSG (and their opponent) did it in the UCL this year.

It’s a tough situation for sure. I wonder if UEFA even gave them the option of playing the next day.

The quote from Denmark’s coach after the game said UEFA gave them the option of tonight or tomorrow and they chose tonight.

That’s good they gave them the option. I suppose if the players wanted to play then you let them play. It’s obviously a different situation from PSG where they didn’t have alternative refs in the stadium so they couldn’t play.

So who had Slovakia leading the group after the first games on their bingo card?

it's not that surprising. Their other half leading their group too . . .

Copa America - two groups of 5 play a round robin over two weeks that eliminates exactly two teams. Then they play knock-outs. Just in case anyone didn't see the greed.

Joining the final round of CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying along with USA, Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras and Jamaica will be El Salvador, Canada and Panama.

USMNT opens WCQ at El Salvador, followed by home v Canada.
