As a newer fan I am confused. Penalty kicks for fouls that were not preventing scoring chances, while an obvious penalty that was preventing a scoring chance is overlooked.

Also I understand the red for flopping on Vardy, but there is a lot of flopping in soccer. Including on both the penalties that caused the penalty kicks.

Vardy's first yellow was never a yellow. His second; yeah, he flopped like an Italian and didn't need to do it because he got to the ball, but there was contact. But okay, fine.

Reid body blocked Schlupp and stopped an attack; it was a professional foul but should have been a yellow as there was zero intent to play the ball.

The PK for WHU was a garbage call. You see contact and pulling on corners every time and that wasn't even much contact and Reid flew down like he was shot.

Huth got dragged down by the neck on the other end. Terrible no call especially given the PK you gave WHU. Either they're both PKs or neither one is.

And the PK in stoppage was more of a dive than Vardy's yellow. There was contact, sort of, but it was shoulder to shoulder and Schlupp just flipped.

What I'm saying is that the ref had a terrible, terrible game.

The handball to end the orlando game was the worse thing I've ever seen.

Not a bad week for the young Americans abroad. Bobby Wood also added to his stellar campaign with his 17th goal. I'm definitely expecting a transfer to the England or German top flight after this season. It would be pretty cool to have the Bundesliga fill up with more Americans with 2-3 playing in Europe next year.

Just watched the highlights: http://matchcenter.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2016-04-17-orlando-city-sc-vs-new-england-revolution/recap

3 of the 4 goals in that match should not have happened/counted with competent officiating.

MLS officiating has been downright bad so far. I don't know what instructions PRO is giving but they need to make a change. The Orlando game was really bad, but almost every game so far has seen multiple bad decisions. And it's not Geiger reffing every game so I don't know what the deal is.

None of our decent and above young players should be in England. Worst place for developing American talent to be.

So Vardy's probably going to get an extra game tacked on to his suspension for cussing out the ref after being sent off.

Remember in 2014 when Jordan Henderson got a dumbass red against Manchester City and had to sit out 3 games in Liverpool's run in? Yeah...

Sorry @Soccer10k, but go Stoke tonight.

Can't blame you. If I wasn't a Spurs fan, I'd probably be rooting for Stoke also (though a Spurs win at least keeps the race exciting for longer).

That extra game would be huge. He was already going to miss Swansea but the second game would be at Man U. As if getting a red for diving wasn't dumb enough, he goes and does this also.

Way to show up, Stoke City.

When idiot Europhiles complain about MLS playoffs and there's no regular season pressure because everyone makes it and there's no relegation pressure or some such nonsense...i'm going to point to games like this where the team stranded in mid-table wanders around the field like they're halfway to Ibiza as my rebuttal.

It's kind of six of one, half dozen of the other, right? Instead of mid table teams teams not caring (EPL), it's the bottom clubs who wander around not caring (American sports). No matter what format you have, you're always going to have a handful of clubs with nothing to play for the last few weeks.

In this case vs. MLS, its 4 teams at the bottom who care, 2 at the top, 3 just below them and then 11 teams that are already at the beach. Over half the stupid league.

Plus playoffs are fun as horsefeathers.

I was shopping for a friend's baby shower and foxes are apparently the new thing in baby wear. Perhaps that's an omen for Leicester.

What happens if the season ends with Spurs and the Foxes tied in points?

The current MLS playoff format is still playing itself out, but I think having 3-6 play a knockout round ends up with ~7 teams in each conference caring at least a little bit about the last game. If CCL carried a little more importance, grabbing the top 2nd and 3rd spots in the league table would add a little something in as well, although the Canadian teams not qualifying out of MLS is yet another weird wrinkle.

To me, Liga MX seems to maximize the meaningful games -- pro/rel, split season, inclusive playoff system and regular season finish mattering for Copa Libertadores qualification. If anyone closely follows that league, I'd be interested to know if all of those factors are a good fan experience, or just confusing.

There are 4 game left for each team:

Leicester have Swansea, Man U (a), Everton and Chelsea (a). Their max points is 85.

Spurs have West Brom, Chelsea (a), Southampton and Newcastle (a). Their max points is 80.

Spurs have the easier run in, assuming Newcastle are relegated before that final game. Only Southampton have anything to play for, and then only barely. West Brom suck and Chelsea quit playing back in September.

LCFC get a crap Swansea, a Man U that even though they're bad, win games they have no business winning, a generally garbage Everton that will either be on the beach or getting ready for the FA Cup final, and the aforementioned Chelsea.

LCFC need 8 points from their last 4 games assuming Spurs win out. I can't really see Spurs losing to any of those teams in their current form. Maybe they drop points at Chelsea but I doubt it. I can see LCFC struggling at United, especially without Vardy.

If Spurs do lose any of those games, LCFC probably win. I see LCFC getting 6 points from their 12.

FWIW, I hate the Apetura/Clausura format so, so much.

Tottenham on goal differential, I believe.

This is correct. Tottenham is already far enough ahead in goal differential that even if the two teams were tied in points right now, Tottenham would still likely finish ahead in goal differential. It's nearly impossible to make up a 13 GD if two teams have the same results without a head to head game. But since the only way they finish tied in points is if Tottenham has a better finish, it makes it nearly impossible for Leicester to get the tiebreaker.

Yeah, I think if Spurs win all 4 games, they'll win the title (Leicester would have to win 3 games or get 2 wins and 2 draws). Leicester getting 6 or 7 points in the last 4 games sounds about right.
