I said in the Bears thread (I think it was that one and not this one) that I used to listen to that original podcast (Chicago Audible). I was completely turned off by Olin joining the crew. Not a big fan of Hoge either, but I preferred the fan perspective over "I'm an ex player and I know everything". And I knew out of respect they would basically defer to Olin, who probably also insisted they do. I didn't think he'd go this far with it, but I knew this wouldn't end well. Haven't watched the show since the debut week on CHGO because he was already smirking at the guys for only playing HS ball and being WRs or something.

Tom Brady gets monster 10-year, $375 million deal from Fox Sports
Fox Sports’ deal to make Tom Brady its lead NFL game analyst after he retires is for 10 years and $375 million, The Post has learned.

It is the largest contract in sportscasting history, as it more than doubles both CBS’ Tony Romo and ESPN’s Troy Aikman in average annual salary of $18 million per season.

So he's going to make more in 10 years as a broadcaster than he will playing in the NFL for 23 (so far) years.

Not to mention that he’s an insanely boring person with zero broadcast experience

Can't be any worse than Chris Collinsworth. He just adds nothing of value to a broadcast. It's like if you put hundreds of sports clichés into a database, gave that database human form and had it set to spout a new cliché every 30 seconds.

Which is why Collinsworth isn’t making $35 million per year

Hub Arkush had a medical emergency at Halas Hall a few weeks ago. Sounds like CPR was performed. No more details other than he’s still in the hospital and his recovery might be extended.

I saw someone on Twitter the other day wondering where he has been because he hasn’t been on Twitter or radio since mid-August. Geez. Hope he is ok.

Not directly sports media, but Lin Brehmer was a huge Cubs fan. RIP.

RIP. A Chicago icon. The love for music speaks for itself and he was always optimistic, smart and creative.

Watching the Johnny Football doc on Netflix. Will report back. I thought he was going to be something when I saw him beat Alabama. Turns out I was wrong.

I wanted to have sympathy for Johnny but by the end it's apparent he's a self-indulgent self-absorbed child who has never grown up.

I saw the thing about how they tracked how many hours he had done of film study on this tablet and he had watched literally zero hours. He was living off natural ability and put zero work in. That doesn't work in the NFL where everyone is supremely gifted and they work hard.

In the doc he says he didn't want to do it anymore once he turned pro and it became a job. I don't know how much of that statement is compensation for not being good enough and how much of it is a valid reason. He also fell back on having a bipolar diagnosis, which didn't appear to hamper his ability in college.

The doc wasn't very informative regarding perceptions of other teammates and people around him except for the OC and his agent, and his one-time best friend.

The NFL had him pegged though.

So, it looks like Football Outsiders is going away completely, as Aaron Schatz, who ran the site, has joined FTN as their Chief Analytics Officer, and will be moving the rest of the data and analysis that was left at FO over to FTN.

EDIT: By "is going away" I apparently mean it's already gone. DVOA and related statistics will now be available here: https://www.ftnfantasy.com/nfl/tools/team-total-dvoa
