So I glanced at the WAR totals a bit that Kyle posted last night from Fangraphs and to my shear delightment, Dave Stewart has not disappointed. They are currently 17.3 behind the Dodgers and 8.9 behind the Cards for the last WC.

Heyman says that the Cubs finished 2nd for Miller. Soler would've been included. But the Braves liked the DBacks offer too much.

I also keep reading that they asked the Cubs for Bryant. I don't care if it was just them high balling the Cubs and weren't seriously expecting the Cubs to trade Bryant, I still reserve the right to laugh and mock them.

thinking on it, this sums up the trade pretty well

Dave Stewart: "When you look at Shelby Miller, you're looking at a guy who was traded for Jason Heyward, who is worth $200 million"

Speechless.

Remember when the reason they gave away Toussaint is because they had too much young pitching?

He should have been fired before he even finished that sentence.

With Shelby Miller, Archie Bradley, Rubby De La Rosa, Randall Delgado, and Robbie Ray, the D Backs rotation certainly has the potential to be something special.

Is this an attempt at a funny? Or do you not know they signed Greinke and have Patrick Corbin?

If I had to guess having a GM like Stewart in the league pisses Theo/Jed off more than liking it. Sure there's the possibility they could rip him off somewhere in a trade but they probably hate how he sets up fucked up precedents for player value in these trades and it also wouldn't surprise me if Stewart was one of those guys "scared" to deal with them because he knows they r smarter than him.

I had no idea LLF was the GM for the Diamondbacks.

lol Padres

Padres? Are you referring to how they're doomed to finish 4th?

Correct. The rest of the division is arming for war and they are off laying in a field somewhere staring at the sky.

So, apparently AZ is still trying to sign Leake. If you assume they get him for a minute, their depth chart at sp would be:

Zack Greinke

Shelby Miller

Patrick Corbin

Mike Leake

Rubby de la Rosa

Robbie Ray

Chase Anderson

Archie Bradley

Zachary Godley

Josh Collmenter

Andrew Schugel

If Robbie Ray could be had cheaply, I'd definitely be interested in him. I think he may even have an option left.
