Fantastic game, but now I'm just pissed they lost two ridiculously winnable games. Stupid Bears.

Part of me wants to say that the Bears have played 5 games that would have gone either way and they are 3-2 in those games. So in that regard I guess it could be worse. It's difficult to say that the Bears should win every single close game.

But then I remember those stupid games they lost and there is just no way they should have lost them. Also why did all 3 of the close games they won have to be AFC games while the 2 they lost division games. If we lost to Oakland and Kansas City while beating Detroit and Minnesota we'd still be looking ok even at 4-5

remember when that guy on the packers said we'd be looking a lot different when we played them the second time? he might've been right.

so how concerned should we be about losing Gace and Fangio to head coaching gigs in the offseason?

i wouldn't worry about fangio at all.

there's a school of thought out there that fox (as an older guy w/some health issues) might not be too long for this job and gase might be set to take over after that. would be nice, but i'm not counting on it. i'm really worried about losing him. it'd be nice for cutler to have some continuity with someone competent for once.

if we manage to win next week (my teams always seem to lose in these situations), how seriously do we start thinking about a playoff spot, given the remaining schedule and the fact that we'd be .500 having won probably our most difficult remaining game?

Still need Atlanta or Green Bay to tank, being basically 2.5 games back with 7 to go. I wouldn't put it past this Vikings team to tank and lose a playoff spot, too, I don't trust them at all.

But their next two games are the two hardest on the schedule, Denver and @Packers, and if they don't win at least one, obviously season over.

Btw, what team was it that scored the touchdown against the Bears that was obviously not a touchdown, and wasn't reviewed even though auto-review of scoring plays was already in place? Something blue?

If you consider the Bears as decent, the Vikings don't have an easy game the rest of the year. Still have 2 against the Packers, 1 against Bears, Cardinals, Seahawks, Falcons and Giants

Well, I'm not quite sure I'd say that, but I know I wouldn't rate the Vikings as much better. Again, I don't trust the Vikings to actually be any good

watching the replay of the game, Willie Young was held literally on every play.

are you talking about the golden tate play?

I liked the one where he was hugged around the waist with both hands that wasn't called

Gotta have long arms to hold a DT around the waist!

I don't remember, although I suspect it was Detroit

it'd especially be nice re: cutler/continuity because cutler legitimately seems happy with this coaching staff for a change

So what happened to my post about the obviously senile or incredibly drunk Al Michaels (yeah, messed that up)?

Wrong thread, obviously senile or incredibly drunk Careless.

Fox is not all that old, and i doubt he has plans on retiring soon. It's a sticky situation, but Fox can find guys that are good.

If that's the case, it was called a TD on the field, reviewed and then overturned.

I think if we can manage to get to 10-6, that'll be good enough this time. Atlanta has two games remaining against Carolina, one against Minnesota, and away games at JAX and TB, which are should-wins but those teams are good enough for an upset now. GB has Minny twice, us on T-Giving, and a road game at Arizona. I don't think it's far-fetched for one of those teams to fall short of 10-6, probably Atlanta.

If we lose one of the DEN and GB games we'll have to run the table from there, which, regardless of schedule I wouldn't trust this team to do.

8-8 or 9-7 and just short of the playoffs is probably the most realistic scenario at this point, unfortunately. Next year should be really fun though.

FiveThirtyEight has us at 14% chance to make the playoffs and 2% to win the division FWIW. ESPN playoff machine will be up after next week and you can play out the scenarios to your hearts content.

I'm very happy about how quickly this coaching staff has turned this team around. Forte getting banged up has also given the organization a chance to more fully evaluate Langford and Carey going forward, and while I don't see the same talent level of Forte out of Langford, I do think he can be a valuable enough asset to spend elsewhere this offseason, which is pretty huge, IMO. Especially considering they've been playing without Kevin White all year. I've been a fan of Miller since before he went down with that season ending injury last year. The playmakers are there on offense. Just need to improve the line some more on offense and work on the defense.

SportsClubStats has us at 5.5%. It has them at 21.1% if they finish 9-7 and 78.1% if they finish 10-6.

Kind of surprising because they are tied with 5 teams and 2 games behind GB and ATL and all 7 of those teams have at least 2 more conference wins than the Bears. Although they hold the tiebreaker over STL and can win the tiebreaker against Washington and TB (and already lost to Seattle and virtually lost to GB, who is 1-1 in the division vs. the Bears 0-3).
