The rare road game on CBS thanks to the new TV formatting, I'm sure the big eye is really happy with that decision now.

The Rams, who have scored 7 more points than they have allowed and have pretty much defined mediocrity in the NFL for the past decade are a somewhat astonishing 8 point favorite over the moderately competent Bears. Only GB and Cincy are bigger favorites this week. That tells me Vegas wants people to pour money into the Bears and lose it. Nick Foles is the QB and does nothing particularly well. STL does have a stingy defense and since the Bears don't score much anyway this could be tough. I continue to refuse to root for better draft slots with the Bears so they might as well try and win this game.

Oooooooh, Wes Welker is back and playing for the Rams. After seeing Danny Woodhead hurt the Bears last night one might expect a slightly larger version of his grittiness to do some damage next week.

The Bears are scoring 25 ppg with Cutler on the field (counting the Cards game as a 1/2). That would be just outside of the top 10 in the NFL, and the Bears have 0 points from defense and special teams TDs. I think the Bears very well put up some points, even against the Rams, now that the OL is somewhat stable and Alshon Jeffery is 100%.

They are 22nd in ypg and 25th in ppg. The line is hardly stable and Jeffery is the only skill position player worth a darn. They are averaging 23.2 PPG in games Cutler starts and finishes. That would be ranked 16.5 and doesn't take into account all the other teams that have lost QBs that may want to wipe out their lowest output to make the same argument, like the team they are currently closest to on that list, the Cowboys. They've moved the ball a little but have a lot of trouble scoring. They don't have enough weapons, they can't block and apparently their FG kicker decided to invite some competition next season.

They are actually making do with what they have and kind of performing above expectations thanks to a professional coaching staff and a competent QB. But it still leaves a lot to be desired.

the play-calling has been focused on sticking with the running game, though, and sitting on the ball. it's been methodical and purposefully plodding. it's not a team designed to score a lot of points, but it is a team designed to move the ball. essentially, get the game to the 4th, let Cutty take over and hope the defense holds.

Alshon tweaked his groin in practice and is day to day.

STL down to 7 point favorite

I hope with his new money Alshon can hire professionals to prepare his body for the rigors of the NFL. Dude has way too many soft tissue injuries.

Didn't even know McPhee was questionable

Suddenly not looking forward to this game.

His injury is the reason Houston was in the game to get the 2 sacks on the last defensive series.

I don't think it's a good idea to ever sell out for one player even Gurley. The first few play calls took advantage of that and threw the Bears completely off rhythm. They adjusted and then Gurley in turn gashed them on the ground. Bears are 1 step behind
