Long time reader (and obviously lifelong Cubs fan), first time poster ... Was trying not to have a username on any Cubs message boards so it wouldn't consume my life, but after last night I had to break down and join.

I'm so pumped for this series. I remember in 2003 ESPN about didn't cover our series with the Marlins because they were so busy drooling over the Yankees and the Red Sox (an epicly overrated rivalry that I flat out do not give a sh*t about). I'm so glad our best rivalry is finally going to get a spotlight in the Playoffs. And, as others have said: this isn't June. We are seriously a better baseball team than the St. Louis Cardinals, and I think our guys know it. I say bring it.

Good first post. Welcome. Peoria has a lot of Cardinal and Cub fans, so it should be a little tense there this week.

We're better than they are. Doesn't mean we'll win. 5 game series and all. But we're better.

So were the Tigers and suddenly their pitchers forgot how to field. The only way the Cubs lose this series is because baseball.

My ex-father in law trolled me and other Cubs fans by showing up to my son's hockey game this past weekend in a Cardinals jacket. I want to shove this one fully up his and every other St Louis fan's ass.

Using the Yankees/Red Sox analogy of this feud hopefully the Cubs can skip right to Games 5-7 of the 2004 ALCS and not have to mess with 2003 ALCS or the first half of 2004.

Though if the benches clear, Miggy (or maybe Ross with his actions last night) would definitely be Pedro... who would be Don Zimmer

The great ARCubsFan in all his Cardinal loving glory, compared 2015 Cubs/Cardinals to 2009 Blackhawks/Red Wings. I was shocked no one jumped all over that. For non-hockey fans, 2009 was the first year the Blackhawks made the playoffs in 7 years, they played their most hated rival who in recent history dominated hockey (sound real familiar?) and lost the series 4 games to 1.

By this point most people have him on ignore.

I'm going to lick the sweat tears from TBIB's cheeks. Get ready for a lot of surrender cobras St. Louis.

Hello, Cub fans

On the occasion of this unprecedented series, I thought I'd join your site and join you in reveling in great baseball.

I'm a Cardinal fan but I'm first and foremost a baseball fan and some of my best memories are of talking to the fans of other teams at Kaufman, Shea, Old Yankee Stadium, Fenway and yes--many years ago, Wrigley.

I'd invite some of you to my home site http://www.birdsonthebat.org for the same purpose.

Like all sites, it has its share of grumps, jerks and know it alls. But it is also home to plenty of good baseball fans.

So, I hope my visits don't offend and I promise to be cordial.

I'd wish you luck but, heck, that'd be a lie. Happy postseason.

I need over the top bat flips.

I need Yadi shouting at Schwarber as he trots around the bases.

I need the BFIB raining boos on Castro as he steps to the plate and slaps a double.

I need Wacha and Lynn to implode on the mound. Again.

I need idiot Card fans trying to rationalize why Piscotty will be better the Bryant.

I want the BFIB awkwardly looking for a place to hide their extra chromosome inspired Bartman and billygoat signs as we dong them into resignation.

I put this in the game 1 thread, but....

Cards announce Garcia game 2, Wacha game 3, Lynn game 4.

Lynn won't get a chance.

Even if he does, we have his number.

If we really end up playing at 4 or whatever the hell on Monday, I will be [expletive] pissed.

Getting second priority to the Dodgers and Mets would be a [expletive] joke.

Gotta love that east coast bias.

You're a smart guy David. You know this has zero to do with who's the better team/matchup, and everything to do with media markets.

I'm in DVR/somehow avoid finding out what happens mode for Games 1 and 3 already in this series, and if there's a Game 4 I'll have to do it for that too. Man, having an off-hours job [expletive] sucks sometimes.

Damn right. A little after 5 PM is a great time to start a game.
