Coomer just said Pat has been doing games in STL for a long time with the Cubs 'and the Brewers'. Unless I'm much mistaken, Hughes never would have done a Brewers game in STL as they were in the AL until he came to the Cubs (and it was pre-interleague).

Listen, if we're going to get on Coomer for that, we're gonna be here all night listing these things. And I like Coomer more than most.

same thought i had and i rip coomer as much as anyone

Baez looks slimmer than I remembered.

He does look noticeably slimmer than last year. He supposedly lost a bunch of weight this offseason because he couldn't eat after his freakishly fake, white teeth were put in.

Why does our entire team make sexy defensive plays now?

Because "too many shortstops" isn't an actual problem.

haha yep

When looking up how long Pat has been with the Cubs, I learned this from Wikipedia:

Hughes appeared in an uncredited voiceover role as the basketball announcer in the 1997 remake of the Disney film Flubber.

i'm not sure if that's what he had done or not

i only say that because he appeared to have braces last year (and almost never smiled in pictures) and it would be kinda weird to get fake teeth when his old teeth looked fine other than the fact that he had braces on

do we have any dentists that can go through his instagram and get on the case?

yeah that's really random. I remember a game earlier this year (maybe a rain delay game?) when len and JD were talking about it. they threw up some graphic with pat photoshopped in the flubber movie cover IIRC

goodness heyward makes it look easy

Yeah, he just flew.

Jesus, the Nats are bad.

i'm having a hard time envisioning a scenario, barring a complete turnaround by the nats in the next 3 weeks, that doesn't end with matt williams getting sacked. when a team underperforms this badly, somebody's head has to roll.

I hope Bryant likes the outfield because Javy is taking third

bryant is locked in at 3rd for as long as he can handle it

For a little while now, but like Len mentioned that's for a leather MLB game ball. You can get a baseball that has that plastic-y veneer for about $5.

Until guys stop hitting, I think you have to go with Baez at 3rd and Bryant in the OF. Play Coghlan at 2nd/OF every now and then when Schwarber comes back.

i hate to keep harping on the castro thing but it's not like he's been so freakishly hot (obviously an awesome dong tonight) that you have to bench a solid coghlan (vs rhp) in favor of him when schwarbs comes back

You don't want to know what a new baseball cost back when I was a kid. ;)

yeah but that's for the "official mlb one". the "official league" one (which is still regulation) is under 6 bucks: http://www.amazon.com/Rawlings-Baseball-Official-League-Rubber/dp/B000OQA3N4

ohh ok. yeah, i was thinking official league.

i wish i hadn't lost my hee seop choi foul ball in the bushes at the park
