Brewer's Will Smith please. Add him and O'day and the bullpen is a monster.

Finally got around to taking a gander at Mark Zagunis' lol-worthy AFL stats. 19 BB in 63 PA for a 30.2 BB% and .476 OBP. He has an .840 OPS.

For those keeping score at home - that's a .364 SLG in the AFL from a college trained COF bat.

Which is fairly below his usual SLG. Probably hard to hit XBH when you're walking a third of the damn time.

What's Zagunis' ceiling? Swisher with a little less power and a little more contact/BA?

If things go right, Zagunis should be like a poor man's Rusty Greer.

His ceiling really comes down to how much power you think he develops. Obviously, there are moments where the idea of average pop seems almost comical for him ... but he did the 15th most doubles out of qualified carolina league players). If he can push that into average power, that's a very intriguing talent, a potentially plus defensive player, with a plus approach, makes solid contact. He could, though, be a guy where the power never develops to the extent that people think it might, as he's comfortable with taking walks and driving the balls into the gaps.

As for comps, not the easiest to find as it's an odd profile mix. I mean, if the power doesn't develop, mid-age Nick Markakis is possible. Obviously, hope for better. I still say from an offensive profile, Jason Heyward isn't the worst comparison of what a positive expectation for Zagunis' offense might be. Again, I'm not saying he will be that good, but simply making the comparison of a disciplined, solid approach offensive corner OF that has average power.

I think more of gordon when I think of his ceiling. I think Heyward has a defensive ceiling as a plus CF and has shown the power to be a 30 HR guy.

Gordon's a fine comp as well. I view Zagunis as a possible plus corner OF defensively, so thus was always thinking more plus defensive RF's, but sure Gordon makes a ton of sense. Probably a bit more consistent pop than I am really expecting from Zagunis, and probably K's more than what I think Zagunis could do, but sure, it's a clear possible outcome.

I view Heyward's 2012 as more of an aberration power-wise for him. Does he have said power potential? From a raw perspective, probably, but I just don't think he'll ever have that consistent game power.

Well, once you've done it in MLB it has to be considered your ceiling.
