Ok, thanks to Javy, now I am excited for regular season games again.

Why weren't you excited in the first place

Did you not read the first page of this thread? We were discussing how we wished we could just fast forward to the playoffs, since we are now resigned to being the second wild card.

Nothing is more exciting for ARCubsFan than lustfully leering at the Cardinals' division lead multiple times a day.

Interesting that people are giving up on catching the Pirates considering that we're 5.5 back. I believe that was the closest we got to STL, and only for like a day, but people didn't give up on that til it was much worse. We also have 7 games with them this month, and the Pirates have 9 other games against current playoff contenders (6 on the road) while we only have 7(3 on the road). Oh and their rotation is Cole/Liriano/sorrow/plzstayinthepark/pray4OFdefense; and by BaseRuns we're more or less their equal.

I'm not giving up on the Pirates, either; just the idea that the playoffs are going to start for the Cubs with anything besides a WC game. So, yes, catching them would be moderately exciting, but mostly I'm just [expletive] ready to GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Just heard on the score that Joey Votto has a .577 OBP since the All Star break

Yeah. I guess I shouldn't have necessarily said the "second" wild card. But, it doesn't matter to me much if that game is at home or the road. It would be kinda cool, I guess, if we got back into that race. But, still... meh.

It's not that I've given up. It's that I don't care about getting home field nearly as much.

I have this vision of the Cubs giving up a run in the first at Wrigley and the fans going into panic mode which is felt by the players who then get 2 hit in a loss and it screws up the entire core of players on this team to the point where they never accomplish anything.

But I'm weird like that.

Oh, I see you've been traumatized by Rich Hill as well.

I'm part of the sane posting in game threads brigade and im already scared shitless of that game

not because i expect everything terrible to happen...just because if we lose we get no more games and if we win we get at least 3 more, which is way more fun.

I'm expecting them to go in and annihilate and if they lose, hey, at least it's a team set up to come back. Famous last words, sure, but it feels like forever since there's been a Chicago sports crowd just losing their [expletive] mind over a playoff game. Have some fun, you miserable lumps.

This team is run by smart people. What did they possibly see in Haren.

They got him for nothing, are paying him nothing, and he was supposed to be an upgrade over Beeler. His FIP was always bad going in and the home run balls won't work at Wrigley in Summer.
