Even if Lester didn't have the yips, that would've been a really tough play.

I think the big issue is that he made no attempt whatsoever to field it. It's as if he was afraid to pick it up. Oh well, let's just win the damn thing here so the play doesn't even matter.

not really, or even close. Both pitching and throwing involve the same "motion". Hitting dongs and being a base stealer don't.

Yeah...its just weird Lester has absolutely no baseball skills outside of pitching. Which is fine because he's a very good pitcher, and isnt the first or last like that, but the fact that he sucks everywhere else and insists on Ross catching rears its ugly head sometimes.

He was an AL pitcher his entire career though. He never had to hit besides an at bat now and then in inter-league or the world series

Ross was on it pretty quickly and while Lester didn't go for it, it would have been tough to pull off even for a guy who fields the position really well.

the people talking about lester's baseball skills are missing the point entirely. it's not that he can't do it. he has the yips. his head is fucked up on those throws. it's a mental issue.

i'd say just about every pitcher would try to make it, but it would have been really hard. it was weird that he just stood there as the ball slowly rolled towards him.
