i guess we finally have an actual answer

 

Why do Cubs hitters rub their helmets when they reach base?

 

It started with utility man Jonathan Herrera poking fun at teammate Starlin Castro.

 

"When Castro laughs he kind of rubs his face and head," Herrera said. "So we do it on the bases. That's where that comes from."

It's easy to forget that Hammel does not have a terrific health track record and has never broken 180 IP in a season. When they have the luxury of a rested pen, having a quick hook for Hammel(and Hendricks) is not a terrible idea.

what's a better situation...1-2 1 out and runner on 1st, or 2 outs and runner on 2nd?
