The Cubs this year have 3 4-game series sweeps. The 2014 Cubs had a total of 3 winning streaks that went 4 games.

Montero then recalled a conversation he had with Giants slugger Buster Posey during the game: “Buster told me that he was one of the nastiest right-handers that he’s faced. I told him, ‘You know what? He’s fun to catch when he’s like that.’”

From some ESPN article. High praise from a great hitter.

From Brisbee's recap:

I'm not sure if there's a way to have an honest Worst At-Bat of the Year competition without going back and reviewing every single at-bat, which isn't going to happen. So I'll nominate Hector Sanchez's ninth-inning at-bat, in which he hit with the bases loaded and no outs, and swung at three straight bouncing sliders, as if the pitch were just developed in a secret NSA bunker the night before.

It was a garbage at-bat, and it was almost certainly the worst of the year.

Still think Rondon is a lot better suited for matchups in the middle relief/set-up role. I mean I'm 100% okay with him for right now because he's not Jason Motte but going forward.

Yes, his 2.11 ERA and 2.37 FIP over the last two seasons indicate that he isn't suited to close.

this is in the mythical dreamworld some fans envision where Kyle Hendricks is our 5th starter, even when he's evenly paced Felix Hernandez for FI value for the past year and we have 2004 Eric Gagne to push Rondon down in the closer pecking order

The next 22 games for the Giants: vs HOU, vs WAS, @ STL, @PIT, vs CHC, vs STL, @LAD

It's kind of crazy that if things go bad for the Giants this week against Houston and Washington that we could be rooting for them to win most of the games against Pittsburgh and St. Louis next week.

I know it's not likely but something like the Cubs doing 3 games better than the Giants this week puts us 6.5 up on them. Cards and Pirates play each other with the Cards hosting Miami this weekend and Pittsburgh playing at the Mets. If they both go 3-3 or something and all of a sudden we're only 1.5 back of Pittsburgh and 6.5 or 7.5 back of St. Louis, I'd probably root for the Giants to win both series (though not sweep, don't want them to get on a roll).

Heh, awesome find. In other news, apparently I've been blocked on twitter by David Haugh for quite a while and didn't realize it. Probably happened at the same time Kaplan blocked me ages ago, but I can't be sure.

I've been blocked by Haugh as well. Literally retweeted 1 of his tweets with a snarky response (no cursing, vulgarity, etc...) and got banned. What a dbag.

I got blocked by Kaplan for poking fun at some of the first Kap & Haugh commercials on CSN where they were having lame fake arguments...I'm assume that's what Haugh also blocked me for.
