Was it a complete fluke that almost all of our top prospects have strikeout issues? Was that an attribute that was purposely ignored, is it an issue with development or just simply a matter of young power hitters tend to have contact issues?

im no expert but by just watching tv it looks like pitch recognition for soler and mechanics for bryant but what do i know.

anecdotal, but Mike Trout had 139 K's in his rookie year, and 184 in last year's MVP season

 

Harper had 120 in his rookie year, but has averaged less than 100/season since

i still dont understand why soriano didnt get dfa'd instead of richard

 

Because Soriano has a better track record of success, a much higher ceiling if he can get it together, and while stupid because it's a sunk cost, they invested quite a bit in him and want to exhaust all opportunities to get their money's worth.
