Double header means crappy pitchers, not sure who the Cubs would even start

Haren?

Then you probably get a crappy pitcher for the Giants series

Finish the game during the day tomorrow. Easy.

This game isn't official, it would be wiped out

Then play 2 tomorrow. I'm sick of losing our off days.

Haren would be on normal rest, they'd still need to pull in somebody since there's been no off days, but they could punt the problem til Wednesday

I would hate wasting 2 good pitchers on a doubleheader, so fluky and hard to win two. I'd rather bring up someone crappy for one of the doubleheader games. Edited by ARCubsFan

I think Wada is pretty close to being done rehabbing.

More storms popped up to the west. This has to be done.

Actually think we're going to be good after this cell passes, everything else is passing to the South

well if it was called they go back to pittsburg on 9/15 ~ 9 /17 they could always have a doubleheader after the rosters expanded. that probably wouldnt be a bad thing at all.

FFS this isn't a real thing

it's no harder to win both games of a double header than it is to win any two games

Doubleheaders are swept just over half the time the last 10 years. Usually ending in a split is a myth.

No clue when they'd make this up if they call it, don't we already have a makeup with Cleveland?

We have one with Kansas City. We do have common off-dates on September 14th (before our series in Pittsburgh) with us playing in Philly the night before and them being at home. That seems to be a good bet.

We have one with both. Cleveland is coming up in late August, KC is late Sept.

http://www.hardballtimes.com/the-double-header-hangover-effect/

I can state my conclusion this time even more categorically than I did two months ago. Playing a double-header has a significant negative effect on the future play of a baseball team. For the first 15 days, it’s about as strong as that for a team playing an 18-inning (plus) game; over the following 15 days, it falls off to about half the intensity. Overall, the double-header “hangover” is about three-fourths as strong as the marathon “hangover” across one month, and costs a team around three-fourths of a win over that month.
