Pirates put the crap frosting on the cupcake with a 2 out win. Oh, well, we will go to Pittsburgh and win the m

one game playoff game if we need to.

Do we want that? We could probably get a prospect haul for Fowler, Hammel, Motte and Montero.

Yes, playoffs are the goal if the WS is the goal.

Why did they play the top of that inning?

At what point does Maddon lose patience and tell the team to score some [expletive] runs? There's no excuse for the two-week offensive slump we've had. A few games, or a week, sure. Not two weeks. We're better than that.

(I'll admit that I'm just fantasizing and there's no way this actually happens).

You guys act like the Cubs haven't won 3 games 1-0 or 2-0 this week. The Cards stuff is really annoying, but they're winning these games against most everybody else. And the Cards offense isn't any better than the Cubs right now honestly.

Winning games 1-0 and 2-0 isn't very comforting because that type of pitching performance is not sustainable. The team needs to score more runs, period.

You think the problem is the lack of Maddon telling them to score runs? Go on...

maddon is a pretty [expletive] manager if he's forgotten to tell the guys to score runs and has instead emphasized striking out with risp

YOU'VE TAKEN YOUR REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY TOO FAR!

Tough to score runs when you have 5 automatic outs in your lineup in Starlin, Montero, Fowler, Addison and the pitcher. Once you get past Rizzo and Bryant in the order, you basically have no hope in scoring a run. Now Soler changes that somewhat but still. Things to be done because this offense is incredibly bad.

Go look at the Cards game log and get back to me. And that was more a comment on their ability to win a close game than anything else anyway.

i want to see a new experimental lineup in which we put the crap guys in between coghlan, rizzo, bryant, and soler and the crap guys just always sac bunt when they come up. even if no one is on base.

Cardinal game rage strokes aside, we're better than all the teams below us and after this series our schedule is hella-weak for the rest of the season. We'll make the playoffs and it will be cool.

He pulls the rabbit out of the hat and just bites its head off.

The number of times in which the Cubs have been clearly outplayed by the opponent yet still won is a much smaller percentage than the number of times the Cubs have lost to the Cardinals because they bunched all of their base runners into 1 or 2 innings while the Cubs continued to leave RISP.

Okay fine, the pitcher isn't an automatic out these days, Lester is a beast now. The rest of them can't hit worth [expletive] though and you can't argue otherwise.
