Against a lefty, given his obscene numbers against lefties this year, why not bump rizzo back to cleanup and run a lineup that looks something like:

1. Fowler

2. Castro

3. Bryant

4. Rizzo

5. Coghlan

6. Montero

7. Denorfia

8. P

9. Russell

pleasepleaseplease use Montero with Lester tomorrow

thursday is a day game after a night game anyway. we're getting two ross starts this series regardless.

i do want montero to catch lester though, just because lester will hopefully turn it around and then we can all point at his good start as forever evidence that ross doesn't need to be the personal catcher.

So Montero and Ross have combined for 272 PA at catcher, Ross making 70 of them, or 26% of the PA between the two. Is that normal for a backup catcher? Just seems like he's playing more, but I guess if you figure Ross is guaranteed to catch ever Lester start, thats 20% right there.

The only thing I give Ross credit is for catching runners leaning off of first sometimes. That's about it.

Ok but seriously lets be positive, we NEED this game.

Since there's a platoon and a personal catcher situation, I'd assume Ross plays a little more than the normal backup catcher.

Only 9 catchers had more than 500 PA last year. Backup catchers playing ~25% of the time is the norm.

EDIT: And several of those 9 only made that threshold because of DH/1B time(Posey, McCann, Castro)

Ridiculous strike 3. Yet again.

It was right on the edge of the zone on TV.
