Of course, flukey double, grounder off a base and dribbler past the pitcher. Typical cardinals win

A liner into the corner isn't a fluky double.

The rest I can agree with. Although it really wasn't that tough of a play for Russell to make.

I didn't actually see the hit, but I was mostly referring to the player that hit it

I imagine this hurts a lot worse if you thought the Cubs were in some sort of race with the Cardinals. If the Giants lose tonight, it barely even mattered that we lost.

how many times are you going to make this post

if someone was going to engage you on this stupid subject they would have by now

Knowing that we'd have to deal with this for a 5 game series if we grab a WC spot and manage to win that game kind of takes the fun out of it.

Actually it has absolutely nothing to do with that. I just really really really hate the cardinals and I want to see them and their fans go through extreme physical and mental pain

Heh fitting ending. We're back to not being so good.

Chill out its 3 games with one against satans minions

Yeah Donn Roach is pitching tomorrow

What does that have to do with the Cubs "not being so good"? He's like their 10th starter on the organization depth chart just starting out of complete luck.

And besides, Ryan O'Malley once happened

After beating Grienke and Kershaw, they're probably going to get out of this homestand 3-4 or 2-5. That's...not good.

Not Maddon's best night. Jake was cruising.

He will learn that beating the cardinals, especially in Busch, is like trying to kill Freddy Krueger.

I don't know why I ever expect anything different. The sheer amount of [expletive] that had to go wrong for the Cubs to lose this game, and yet it did, because Cardinals.

[expletive] it. Do better tomorrow.

[expletive] them. [expletive] them all. That was the most [expletive] win I've ever [expletive] seen. Enjoy selling your souls for this [expletive], you [expletive]. You still live in a [expletive] hell hole.

this

The Cubs have a bunch of walk-off wins that they've pulled out of their butts this year; I'm far more frustrated with the Cubs only pulling 2 runs out of 12 hits and 3 walks. There seems to be a pretty lopsided power disparity throughout most of the lineups, and the bench is both shortchanged and without any real power threat.

I'm now retroactively against the 2nd wild card because we're basically playing a one game playoff at best for Theo's entire run here

Also the pipedream that was catching St. Louis has completely been thrown out the window as it was a few weeks ago.

Which you'd think would lead to some people not losing their damn minds.

I was against it when the Cardinals of course benefitted from it in the very first season and came within 2 games of a title because of it.

I have been just ignoring the Cardinals existence this season. Well, except when we play them, which makes it so much worse. I am just begging the Nationals or Dodgers to catch them so we won't have to play the Cardinals in the Division Series. Playing the Cardinals in the postseason is like my worst nightmare. I wouldn't enjoy one second of it until the final out was made if we somehow managed to end up on the winning side.

I see. That I can understand more. Although Bourjos isn't terrible, he really just hasn't had ample opportunity.

My bad on the Russell comment, I guess that was the RF playing the IF?

Ok seriously can we do something to avoid Herrera, Szczur or Ross to ever having to PH again?

We could swap them out for different but equally crappy players. Except for Ross. We promised the guy with 4+ era and a $25m salary we would keep Ross.

Yup. Even if the Cubs were up 17-0 in game 3 up 2-0 in the series I would hate every minute until the last out was made and then it would become the best thing ever
