I don't particularly get the anger toward Schlitter. Sure, he's not great, but he's useful enough as the AAA call-up option. I don't think I'm going to over-react to 6.2 innings of work in the majors. He throws hard, has decent enough stuff.

 

If there's an issue with the pen, it's at the "top". I may want to see some other arms get a look, but realistically, you aren't making 40 man roster moves for the last man in the pen right now. Edwards isn't going to get called up for that role right now, and neither is Medina. Beeler/Jokisch are around as emergency starters.

If you're talking from a strictly rational and level headed stand point, you're absolutely right.

 

But when you blow a handful of leads early on (and I'm not going to lie, I felt as thought he blew like 10 games 2 weeks time,) you're going to quickly dig a hole with the fans. And when you're a replacement level middle reliever on your best day to begin with, good luck digging out.
