is grabbing 2 bats in the draft a precursor to trading off some guys like McKinney/almora and anyone besides baez/schwarber?

Nope.

I've followed him for a bit and he doesn't seem like the type to totally make something up (say what you want about Barstool of course).

And then he went out of his way to DM me some details (I had simply asked "any clues besides a big trade?") in reply to his initial tweet. I'll just say if he's completely making it up he's doing a solid job. I think he really may be hearing these things... but it may not be as concrete as his initial tweet made it seem.

But I guess we'll see if something (and possibly two things from what he's claiming to be hearing... Although I myself would think one may depend on whether or not the other move happens) happen in the next few days. He seemed pretty confident in what he told me and seems to think only a ntc along with the draft has been the hold-up for the trade.

Maybe he is indeed throwing poo against the wall, maybe the info he's getting isn't that reliable, but I'm at least keeping in mind what he told me and going to see if any of it happens soon. So we'll see.

Barstool is a terrible meatball site, but lots of athletes are "buddies" with the guys on there. I know Jay Cutler has been on their podcast in the past because he's a big fan, and BarstoolBigCat was joking around on twitter with Greg Olsen the other day because of some controversial call in a charity softball game they both played in.

The Boston guys are awful on twitter, but the Chicago guys are pretty fun, IMO.

I'm not saying this is for sure true, but my guess is that there's something to this.

If the trade(s) were to go down - do you like it from the Cubs perspective? Can you share any additional details from his DM?

Yeah, the big cat dude has been on CSN before filling in for Kap and Haugh when they can't do it. Probably still know nothing, but there's at least a chance that they have better connections than the average person. That said, I have no idea about this Carl guy.

Why the parentheses? Twitter is indeed a thing that exists.

What do you think parentheses look like?

Not like quotation marks!

According to "Twitter"

Hamels and Papelbon for Castro, McKinney, Edwards, Torres, and PTBNL

now you are in fact posting things from random dudes on twitter

This has been going on for too long for it not to register with MLBTR, BN, or even any of the fan blogs. If there was even the slightest hint of smoke regarding a big time trade, this Carl fellow would not be the only one posting it.

I heard that Carl was wearing a purple fanta shirt and saw Hamels at a Starbucks in Lincoln Park.

One of two moves he told me he was hearing... sounds like it's about to happen per Gordo fwiw. Not really a surprise move though either.
