cubs fans are all closet masochists

No. Just the ones that roll around in the negativity like pigs in [expletive].

the Goldschmidt HR still bothers me - a fastball, ahead in the count! - but after that it's like eh whatever

yep after he had just flailed at the slider...at least try it one more time

and Paul Goldschmidt is the best hitter in the game, but

I broke my tv remote when Dempster gave up that grand slam in the 2008 NLDS.

Granted, those were higher stakes.

I tend to not get too worked up, but there are two games this season that still really bother me when I think about them. The Goldschmidt homerun game is one, and Bryant's debut when Schlitter gave up the homerun to Myers after striking him out is the other. With the way Strop and Rondon were pitching at the time, that was a win if the ump calls that pitch to Myers a strike.

WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE BAXTER

WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE BAXTER

they want Baez to get some reps in at 3b before calling him up? Also bringing him up to face the Nationals right away is probably a bad idea.

I don't want it to be Baez

I just want it to be anybody else not named Schlitter

I just wonder how much more Alcantara has to do. I could see it if there wasn't an opportunity(like before Soler got hurt), but putting him in the OF so we're spared Lake or Szczur v. RHP seems like a pretty good outcome. I mean, is his role with the Cubs ever going to be much greater than that? Isn't this exactly the type of stopgap people were envisioning he'd be? He doesn't really have the service time considerations Baez has either and he's been hot at the plate for longer too.

Pretty sure that if Lester goes two more PA's without getting on base, he'll statistically have the worst OBP in the history of the game (min. 50 PA's)

might actually be more a vote of confidence for Szczur than anything; his Iowa numbers are better than the other options

still doesn't explain stupid Mike Baxter wasting a spot

Szczur doesn't appear to be in line to get Soler's PA though, it looks to be Lake. I like what I've seen from Lake at the MLB level this year, but I'm not super stoked to see him in a non-platoon role.
