Every time you see me

The Hammel's just so great

I'm dope on the mound and I'm magic at the plate

Now why would I ever stop doing this?

With batters making outs my pitching they can't hit

I've played throughout the league, from the Cubs to the Rays

It's "Hammel, go Hammel, MC Hammel, yo Hammel"

And the rest can go and play!

IT'S HAMMEL TIME!!!!!!!

vs. some rook who must pull a groin muscle with every pitch:

Oh, and we need more of this:

Not so bold prediction: Rizzo gets on base at least twice.

Bold prediction: Castro hits a three run dong.

Go cubs!!! Let's fry some fish and eat it with bacon!!

Also some sad and interesting #s from Brett over at BleacherNation

It’s been a really rough stretch for the Cubs’ offense, which is hitting just .208/.272/.379 over the last two weeks (.289 wOBA, 75 wRC+).

*vomiting profusely*

The guy who should be hitting fourth is Chris Coghlan, who, with another solid game yesterday, bumped up his line since May 11 to .286/.364/.571 (.389 wOBA, 148 wRC+) and a reasonable .303 BABIP. He’s walking, he’s hitting for power, etc. He has the 13th lowest soft-contact rate in all of baseball.

Funny what happens when you're not the unluckiest man in baseball anymore.

I didn't need to see the actual numbers to know the offense has been weak since the start of the Pirates series, but they sure do make things painfully clear. I agree w/ those who say lineup construction is mostly not worth the time to argue about, but Castro hitting right behind high-OBP guys makes zero sense to me.

I kinda expect the Cubs can take 2 of 3 n Miami, but I thought the same thing before the AZ & both Milwaukee series.

yeah so far we compete with the good teams and lose to the bad ones, lets hope that trend changes from tonight!

I hope Bryant fouls a ball off into the owner's box and gives Loria a black guy.

Is he with Zambrano?

Liking the lineup tonight

Fowler CF

Bryant 3B

Rizzo 1B

Soler RF

Montero C

Castro SS

Coghlan LF

Hammel P

Russell 2B

Based on that Coghlan info above, if the lineup just slotted Coghlan behind Soler I think it would be ideal.

I still think the ideal lineup right now is:

Fowler

Russell

Rizzo

Bryant

Soler

Montero

Castro

P

Coghlan

Edit: even swap Coghlan and Montero because of Miguel's ability to draw walks.

I like this lineup as well. Really hope we can take 2 from or even sweep Miami. Gonna get tough right away again...four with Washington and then LA/STL. What a brutal 30 days of a schedule. We gotta just get through this around 500 and make a run after the break.
