He's going to be a free agent after this year.

Good:

-He's been absolutely dominant in Japan for the past 4 years, including 60 HR in 2013 (Single season HR record)

-Only 31 years old next season

Bad:

-Injured himself in his second AB of the season, expected to miss the next 4-6 weeks.

-Japanese stats, especially offense, should be taken with a grain of salt.

-Arrested on assault and false inprosonment of his estranged wife in January 2014

Any interest?

Why in the everloving [expletive] would we even need a guy like Wladimir Balentien next year?

Bench?

If he'd sign a minor league contract, I'd be for it.

WTF is this? ONLY 31? On a team with prospects out the ass and a starting lineup that projects to have about 6 guys under 26 next year, you don't take a chance on a 31 year old that has proven he can't play in the MLB.

Unless Bryant or Schwarber are ticketed for LF, we don't have an option there. I'd be all for Upton, Cespedes, or Heyward. But if that's not in the cards, he could be an interesting option.

Granted, not too many guys return from a stint overseas to much success, but there is Cecil Fielder.

If they opted to bring him in as competition, okay, but I'm not all that intrigued with it. There's a lot of fringe guys that go abroad and do well, but are still fringe assets in the bigs. If they needed a LF that bad, I'm sure we can trade some assets around to make it happen, or slide someone over there (if they didn't want to put Schwarber there yet).

He had some big holes in his swing. The velocity of pitchers has increased since he last played. With his age, long swing, increased velo, and holes in his swing (even with an improved approach) success isn't likely. He should only brought in with nothing to lose.

Also he was arrested last year for beating his wife while their daughter watched. But hey, it was like 3 months ago that we were all reminded and appalled by the terrorific mistake that was Milton Bradley, let's discuss bringing this guy into our clubhouse.

any time you have the opportunity to bring in a 31 year old injured terrible baseball player that beats his wife you gotta at least consider it.

This will all depend on what they decide to do with Baez. If Baez rights the ship and they decide to keep him, Bryant probably moves to LF. If Baez (or Castro for that matter) is traded then we probably stick with Coghlan until McKinney is ready which, if he keeps up his performance, will probably be some time in the middle of 2016.

Supply is low so demand must be high.
