Is this going to be a long-term DL or are they planning on Almora to AAA when he comes back?

Possible concussion:

@BroadcasterMick: Cubs Prospect @albertalmora to 7-Day MiLB DL with possible concussion after driving for a ball in CF Monday. He Described it as whiplash

Tseng again 92-3; spotting both sides. 4 first pitch strikes. Command projects to be plus. Getting s/m on CB. Consistent delivery. #cubs

If he's consistently sitting 92-93, we ranked him too low.

Hannemann homers in his first AA at bat. Just think how unfair it would be to the rest of baseball if he really did turn into Grady Sizemore.

@CJWittJr: #Cubs Jen-Ho Tseng 92-93; small arm side -- filling up the zone. 2 K's on CB 76-80; 11/5 shape w/ bite and depth. Will miss bats.

@CJWittJr: Quick work for Tseng. FB touched 94 (3x). Spotting well; throwing CB for strike and chase pitch. Very advanced for age. #Cubs

@jgorosh: Ya'll can worry about projection w Tseng-- I won't. He's got impressive stuff, feel for the mound, and can sequence https://t.co/sIdb1X6UT0

@CJWittJr: Billy McKinney keeps the inn. alive w/ a 1B thru the box. Went 1B-3B on 1B to CF. Showed solid 2nd gear. Scores a few ABs later #cubs

Schwarber is going to test the Cubs' resolve to try him as a catcher, because as a hitter he's as ML-ready as Bryant was a year ago.

I suspect the experiment to make him a full-time catcher ends after this season, and he's the guy we're checking off Xs on the calendar for service time next April. He's a starting LF who can be a third catcher on the roster and a lefty power bat with patience and high contact rate - that's plenty to be excited about.

Nope, he's a catcher. If he were in any other org, then yes, he would be a LF/1B/DH. Thing is, we have a 1B, can't have a DH and most likely will need LF for Bryant. It's in our best interest to make him a catcher.

Arismendy with a triple and a hr

Really glad to see this. AA had an awful start this year at MLB and also AAA. Great for the roster with his versatility if he can hit at all. Dangerous as **** if he can be a Zobrist type.

Bryant seems to be handling 3B just fine.

Why are you calling it an experiment?

Anyway, this was said just yesterday. Doesn't sound like anything they'll be backing off on to me.

On how Kyle Schwarber has looked defensively

“It’s been a great year of development for him. And this is no knock on anyone that was at Indiana but just what he had to do receiving wise to catch what we feel is at the Major League level in time, he’s worked his tail off. You see it every single day now. When he was in big league camp he was catching [Jake] Arrieta and all of those guys there. He’s got tremendous hands and he’s moving very well behind the plate. Last night he had a sub-2 throwing time on a runner down to second base. So the process has been great with him. I know I can speak for all of us in the organization, we feel very confident that he is going to be able to catch in the Major Leagues and be a force at the plate.”

I'm very slightly concerned about the amount of time he takes to get rid of the ball and the potential for the yips to develop. It's probably irrational, but it's in the back of my mind every time he does that really long pause/wind up to throw it to first.

Yup, velocity is why a lot of people ranked him to low, there were reports that he was hitting low 90s consistently last year. He's going to be a solid middle of the rotation starter.

A lot of those he's merely waiting for Rizzo to get to the bag. Watch any 3B on balls hit right to them.

More:

@CJWittJr: Tseng FB 91-93 T94; CH 82-3; replicates arm speed. CB 76-80; will +/-; can throw for strike. Advanced feel -- idea when sequencing. #Cubs

@CJWittJr: Tseng induces DP ball to get through 5. Cruising. #Cubs
