How many PAs will he get this year?

17.9% BB rate

28.6% K rate

.143 BABIP

69.6% contact

I'd rather see that contact on the right side of 70, and I don't think he's going to be a star with these numbers, but once the hits start falling a little he should continue to be a useful super-sub.

Yea those look better than I would have expected. Hadn't realized how crazy unlucky he has been.

how hard has he been hitting the ball when he has?

are those batted ball MPH numbers available somewhere or is that sort of just a we get to see it when they feel like telling us about it kind of thing?

i certainly don't remember seeing any of his outs and being like "oh tough break, that was so close to a hit." he's just kinda stunk. anybody hitting .091 is going to have "bad luck" on balls in play.

Quality of contact is subject to as much variance as anything else. If you're putting it in play a bunch, some of them will be hard-hit in the long run.

yeah sure, some of them, but not necessarily a meaningfully large enough quantity to help you.

If you're making contact on 70% of your swings and walking a bunch, enough to help you will.

Szczur, Herrera, and a reliever are probably the favorites over Alcantara. I guess they might keep Herrera and send Mendy down if they feel he's going to continue to struggle right now and still needs every day at bats to get sorted out. I wouldn't bet on it though.

Hmm. Maybe his instagram is private.

Either way, awful news.
