Since realizing that Bryant was suddenly on a 25+ HR pace after his insanely slow start, and inspired by sneaky's post in the Baez thread, I did this.

Since his first HR. Arbitrary endpoints can be really, really fun.

Clearly the per 162 stats are always going to look hilarious when a guy is on a hot streak, but those are insane numbers that just put into a little better context how good he has been lately.

It would be amazing to see someone end a season with 67 HR and no doubles.

And 10 triples.

Harper and Bryant conducted an interview together in the Cubs’ dugout for ESPN before Tuesday’s game, when Harper revealed what he told the Chicago media on Monday, that Bryant’s nickname in Vegas was “Silk.”

UZR likes his third base defense: 2.2 UZR, 7.6 UZR/150.

Quoted for David's benefit.

Not sure? Here are some gigantic red flags towards this being a terrible blog:

As of this posting, Bryant’s at 62 strikeouts, double+ his walks and it’s early June. The OB% is fine (.389) and he’s shown a little pop in his bat (7hr) which we knew he had but is displayed by nearly everyone who swings for fences.

The free-swingers are fine for those clubs who’re bottom-feeders or treading water, but for any team with serious championship aspirations, that kinda’ guy is not a playoff enhancer.

And contrary to what sabrmaticians would have you believe,

Epstein & Co seemingly caving to pressure and calling up KB when they did, as they did, letting SOP on team-player contract dictate dialogue which appeared to push the brass to bring up Bryant earlier than initially planned, before their ‘ready.’

I didn't see THE SLIDE live but I did see it in replay and am absolutely amazed by how big of a deal people made about a guy sliding to the left side of the bag to avoid the tag from a terrible throw that was way off target. That's like baserunning 102 (not quite, make sure you go counter clockwise around the bases, you can run through 1st and home but not 2nd and 3rd, and tagging up, but nothing to go crazy about).

What I do not like seeing are all these head first slides from a guy who is going to go a long way toward determining the future of this team with his bat.

Go ahead and respect 90 all you want but you better protect your thumbs and wrists.
