Catching Iowa at NO next week, maybe the matinee on Wed if I can swing it. Trying to do Wrigley for Cards series around July 4th. Will be in Milwaukee that week and trying to swing a trip. Train or rental car the best idea? I'd get a hotel then public transportation.

I get the feeling he's about two years away from being a highly touted prospect in the draft.

oh well [expletive] him then he's nothing special

Nothing that'd make me laugh about the trade over.

Oh sorry, next time I giggle about something I'll be sure to ask myself if it would meet your esteemed standards first.

Didn't say you couldn't, just said I wouldn't.

Makes sense that you have such high standards for giggles and laughs, given your taste in high brow comedies like "Corner Gas."

I won't apologize for having terrible small-town Midwestern taste in entertainment, food, music, home decor or lawn decoration.

Boras felt so bad about the hit to Kris' bank account that is happening right now that he hooked him up with a sweet twitter advertising campaign

He's 11, will be 12 6/27. Loves the Cubs, wears 23. . . . . until Bryant's number has been determined. It's really cool seeing him take such an interest in a player. He's up to speed on all his minor league accomplishments and the controversies surround his spring success and impending call-up. Friday night, he kept his eyes on Bryant for 3 hours. Very cool to watch.

This lunatic is on with Grobstein complaining about Rizzo and saying that Bryant is going to take first base and that vogelbach is waiting too.

i guess that's a somewhat defensible position if the person saying this stuff managed to sleep through the entire 2014 season.

Geez, La Stella and Olt both being hurt in the first week is Theo's ultimate nightmare. I suspect they could two broken legs each and neither of them would have gone on the DL.

what are the chances KB is called up by this weekend? I'm curious if they will take a similar approach with Rizzo when they kept him in Iowa for a few days past the Super 2 deadline

I think they'll probably go a few extra days past the absolute minimum just for appearance's sake.

Many are predicting the 17th as his call up date. Though I personally am expecting the beginning of next week as a more likely scenario to get his debut on the road to take some pressure off of him and let him relax, not that he needs it.

Rizzo wasn't super 2, it was an extra year of control as well. The deadline for Super 2 isn't known until after each season is completed, so there's no way to pinpoint it. Given the kerfuffle, I imagine Bryant will be held down longer than need be.

If La Stella needs to go to the DL, I could see him being called up on the 17th. Otherwise I'd guess in Pittsburgh, the series after the Pads.

I'm a little surprised they haven't tried Bryant in LF while he's down in the minors yet. Whatever angle they had with wanting him to get in some LF reps is being ignored so far.

The public quotes from the front office thus far haven't really focused on getting him time in LF. It's been more about the nebulous idea of getting him into the flow of the season in a familiar/low pressure environment.

Fair enough. I am also assuming that if they don't get him reps at all during the MLB season when it gets closer to Russell call up time, I guess one could assume it's because Javy still isn't ready. At this point, with Russell's ability and Javy still needing to work out some major adjustments, I wouldn't be surprised to see Russell up before Baez.
