Make your choice for the Cubs 2015 #13 prospect.

Cast votes for the players you think would be deserving at #13. You can vote for up to two players. This is done because at this point, there will start to be greater diversity in whom people may feel is deserving. Voting for multiple players helps to gain greater resolution in the voting when there are many choices and relatively few voters. Ideally, the votes would be weighted, but that isn't possible with the board software.

If you want to have a player added to the list, please say so.

#1 Kris Bryant

#2 Addison Russell

#3 Jorge Soler

#4 Kyle Schwarber

#5 CJ Edwards

#6 Billy McKinney

#7 Gleyber Torres

#8 Albert Almora

#9 Pierce Johnson

#10 Duane Underwood

#11 Jen-Ho Tseng

#12 Jake Stinnett

My surprise vote here is Zagunis. I should probably wait to see him do this for longer, but any hitter with more walks than strikeouts (41 vs 40 - plus 7 hbp) is a good thing. Add in 16/18 in SB and it's better (especially in only 55 games - that's nearly 50 steals in a full year). Also add a non-horrible IsoP. Then put it all at catcher.

I really want to see him repeat this kind of performance as he goes along.

I went with both the catchers, Zagunis and Caratini

Edit: I thought Eloy was already picked, changing to Zagunis and Eloy

I went Sands and Steele, although I get the Zagunis love. I'm curious how much of his OF time was saving his legs v. lack of confidence in his catching ability. There wasn't much negative in the draft day reports on his defense, but then he only played 19 of 41 games behind the plate(and only 3 of 14 games at Kane County).

Zagunis and Sands for me. Eloy next up and really hated leaving him out but he is so young and far away that it is hard to see the future too clearly.

I had to honestly look and see if Vizcaino was still in the organization, didn't realize he pitched a few innings at the MLB level last year

Yeah that was rhetorical - it seems clear Rivero is the better asset at this time. And yet Vizcaino got us an important young cheap major league infielder. Would Zagunis right now? No. I can't think of why prospect rankings shouldn't be pretty much the same as trade value rankings.

We have no true idea how any team values anyone in our system. Hell, I'd be pissed if we traded Russell for a guy like Shark if the situations were to have been reversed. I would have wanted a guy better than him.

What we DO know though, is Rivero is 27 and was one of the first cuts we made this spring. So evidently the team he plays for doesn't appear to value him all that highly. He may very well get a call up at some point in the season and help us, but to think he's got true trade value on his own seems awfully homeristic, based on scouting a stat line and nothing else. Because it seems like he'd be there competing for a spot still if he was ready to be successful in the majors.

A similar player to Zagunis(worse, even, if these votes are to believed), brought back a half season of Bonifacio and 1.5 years of Russell, to the same team as Vizcaino was traded to, no less. I also don't think Vizcaino is a great analog for Rivero's trade value, so no, I don't think there's a huge disconnect there.
