Can someone explain to me how they come up with the PA number? I understand Soler's low number if it's computed based off past performance/injury history. But then where does Almora's number come from?

Wait, did I read that right, the expect a lower K% from Javy than from Bryant? I mean, I'd take their projections for both, but that just seems, well, odd.

Hell they've got Vogelbach and Mckinney with more PA's than Soler. It is rather odd.

2 homeruns from Manny

I like the 30 from Baez more. They also have Baez with a lower K% than Bryant (edit: MSG T beat me to it). If Baez ends up a 2.2 win player while hitting 30 dongs playing solid 2B defense I'll gladly take it given how many red flags he has.

But honestly I don't think he will, and I don't think anyone else here does either, but it'd be nice and I'll remain hopeful.

If Schwarber is just destroying baseballs in the minors, are the Cubs going to re-evaluate their commitment to projecting him as a longterm developmental catching prospect or just call him up and let him mash in leftfield?

I don't think so. He's probably starting the year in AA with a chance to move up to AAA if they deem his defense to be good enough I'd guess. Even if he's slightly below average at catcher, if his bat transitions well to the majors he's a huge asset there. To be perfectly honest I get the vibe he'd be as good at LF as he would catcher, but LF is less important obviously. I assume they'll preach pitch framing to him during his development. If he can be a good framer with mediocre game calling and throwing skills, I hope our team will have a pitching staff that's good enough to overcome those limitations and his bat will make him one of the more valuable players at the position.

The projection for Baez seems optimistic to me.

some of the comparisons are great. Josh Vitters = Dave Gibralter. Like they didn't just make that up.

As someone who spent a lot of hours on RBI Baseball on NES growing up, I really liked the Bob Tewksbury comp for Hendricks. His curveball was unfair, like using Bo Jackson in Tecmo Bowl.

My favorite was using Buck Coates for Szczur.

Pretty sure Fowler will score more than 62 runs if he has 526 PA's.

@DSzymborski And I did go back and double-check - Kris Bryant's ZiPS *is* the best projection ZiPS has ever given a rookie.

my optimism regarding the 2015 team has been with a fairly modest expectation for bryant in mind

if he's actually amazing it's scary how good our lineup could be

Bryant/Soler are going to be the Bash Brothers
