If they're using the "eye test", OSU is making a great case for itself. They're obliterating an elite defense

I almost think the committee moved TCU to 3 last week to prevent them from the controversy of bumping a team from the playoff after a blowout victory. I don't know if that makes any sense, I just came up with that

There is no way to justify OSU taking one of the playoff spots right? Bama and Oregon blew out their conference championship games, Florida State is undefeated and TCU destroyed their bad opponent. If TCU was 4 I could see a committee argument that OSU can jump them but I cannot see OSU jumping FSU and I can't see TCU dropping below FSU and OSU just because TCU had a cupcake their last game.

@SolidVerbal: They’re saying “Beamer.” They want another chance. RT @PaulMyerberg: Ohio St crowd in Lucas Oil Stadium, loud and in unison: "We want Bama!"

There are arguments for all 3 of Ohio State, TCU and Baylor. I'd pick Baylor because OSU has the worst loss by far and I think head to head needs to matter. But I don't think any of the 3 would be wrong picks.

The Virginia Tech loss sucks. Too me it's between TCU and Baylor. I'm going back and forth on those two. I don't really think head to head should matter that much. Especially with TCU's loss to Baylor being by only three points on their field. I'm leaning Baylor just because beating TCU is a better win then either of the two have but then again, a loss to Baylor is better than a loss to West Virginia plus TCU thumped Minnesota in the non-conference while Baylor doesn't have a win of note.

Okay, I'm saying TCU should go out of the three.

I think looking at it like "TCU falling from 3" or "OSU jumping past whoever" is the wrong way to look at it. That's the old poll/BCS mentality. This committee seems to be starting from scratch each week. Otherwise, you'd have to argue that with TCU at 3 and FSU at 4 last week, that they'd have had Miss St in and FSU out had Miss St won, right?

I'd go Bama, Oregon, FSU and Baylor.

I have no idea how they select the other bowl games but I hope that the two teams that get left out get matched up against each other.

OSU would default to the Rose Bowl right? or is the Rose one of the playoff sites?

Non conference:

FSU- Notre Dame, Florida, Oklahoma State, Citadel

Bama- FAU, Western Carolina, Southern Miss, WVU

Those teams ended up being mediocre, but still easily the toughest of all the power conference teams in contention. And their conference schedule was better than Ohio state, TCU, or Baylor's.

Every game FSU plays is exciting. I don't have an interest in them but I'll bet their postseason will be the most fun to watch.

Normally OSU would default to the Rose in this scenario, but the Rose is a semifinal game. OSU would get an auto bid to one of the other NY6 games.

Same applies to the Big 12. If the committee picked OSU, whoever the B12 decided was the champ (they'll pick someone if neither TCU or Baylor make it) would normally default to the Sugar, but since that's the other semifinal they'd get an auto bid somewhere else. In this case, of course, both would get NY6 games anyway by virtue of their ranking.

It's a little complicated.

I've read that if neither Big 12 team gets picked for the playoff, Baylor would go to Cotton by virtue of head to head win and TCU to the Holiday Bowl. What a potential fall from 3rd playoff spot to Holiday bowl after winning a game against a conference opponent by 52 points.

Of course, they could just take OSU and leave TCU and Baylor out, saving them from having to choose between them

That's a bad precedent for them to set. Of course if Miss St beat Ole Miss they might still be trying to take two SEC teams.

All the sports writers on Twitter are saying

1. Alabama

2. Oregon

3. Florida State

4. Ohio State

The committee has typically given a lot of weight to winning the conference championship game. And honestly, these are probably the 4 best teams.

No way that's correct. Both teams will be ranked high enough to get a New Year's 6 spot. All the Top 10 teams get one automatically. Whoever gets 'picked' as Big 12 champ probably does go to the Cotton, though.

I want Baylor to be left out just to see Art Briles lose his [expletive]. He already started a little last night. Even got in a heated discussion with the Big 12 commissioner for not naming them the One True Champion of the Longhorn Conference.

Just saying, the schedule matters, and FSU's sucked

They played Florida, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma State in non-conference. Normally that would be a tough slate of games.

No ones arguing that they didn't try to have a tough schedule, just that they didn't.

FSU has wins over Louisville, Miami, ND, and Florida. Those are good wins. They also beat georia tech and Clemson. Those are very good wins.

It's been grading FSU on a different scale. Bama lost a game, barely beat arkansas and absolutely should have lost to LSU. Oregon was tied after 55 minutes of football with Wazzu, and lost at home to a flawed team. TCU lost to baylor, needed a last second field goal to beat WVU by 1 and was losing to kansas by 10 late in the third quarter.

The committee has painted themselves into a ridiculous corner by having TCU 3 and FSU 4 going into this week. Now they need OSU or Baylor to jump TCU but not FSU and I'm not sure how they will justify it.

There is a time honored tradition that head is the uninpeachable trump card. It would suck if that was not honored. Between Baylor and OSU there really isn't a right answer. They are tied.
