MLB Network is floating the idea that Harper is being traded. Absolutely nothing concrete just thought it was interesting.

I swear to god and I completely mean it that I will never, ever say one bad thing about the front office on any Cubs-related web site ever again if we acquire Bryce Harper this offseason.

I am about to tweet that my sources confirm Harper is headed to the Cubs.

Sources: #RedSox, #SFGiants meeting with James Shields today.

Now I want to sign Shields just to [expletive] these teams again.

Only if the Cardinals get really interested in too!

Haha.

While I like the idea of Shields, these latest Harper rumors are WAY better.

We can give up both Russell and Bryant to get Harper and I'd be happy.

Basically they can have their choice of any two players besides Rizzo and if they insisted on their choice of any three players I would at least think about it.

If they demanded say Rizzo and Russell would you even turn that down?

I'd try *really* hard to get them to ask for something else because it's awfully late in the year to be finding another 1b. But the value doesn't bother me.

What's the fascination with Harper? He's good and he's young, but I don't see anything he does that's super elite to have everybody gushing over him and willing to give up players that are better than he is (Rizzo).

He was hitting baseballs at an above-average MLB ability level before he was old enough to buy beer.

I dont have all the advanced stats in front of me but my guess is if you put together a list of comparable players in baseball history with Harper's production at that young of an age a good portion of them are in the HOF now or damn near close.

On top of that Harper's tool's/ceiling is even more dynamite than his pretty good stats for someone that age would dictate.

Except with power and more walks. But sure. Like Castro but better.

Right, very similar to Castro, right down to the morons that want to run him out of town for not being exactly what they want all the time. I'm just hoping some of those morons work in the Washington front office.

Jim Bowden still have influence there?

I'd give the Nats anything but Rizzo/Russell/Soler if we could get Harper. I am a big believer in Soler especially, so really don't want to see him moved if Theo can help it. Edited by CyHawk_Cub

Rizzo was better than him last year, and Steamer projects Rizzo to be the better player for 2015. There's a lot I'd give up for Harper, but giving up Rizzo and arguably the top prospect in baseball, or arguably the top two prospects in baseball, is kind of crazy. He hasn't turned into Trout yet.

With 80 raw power.
