That's a pretty classic response, really.

The handwriting is on the wall with this team. The veterans are going to be completely spent by playoff time, they have no wing depth whatsoever, and Thibs' obsession with Hinrich is killing them. The East is admittedly terrible, but as usual with Garpax, the roster construction just doesn't hold up.

If Rose plays consistently on the level he played against Portland this team would look a crapload better. Whether or not that's going to happen is going to be what decides this season for the Bulls.

There's no obsession with Hinrich; he won't be playing as big a role later in the season.

I'm just curious - on what can this possibly be based? He could hardly be playing worse, and his minutes aren't decreasing. I can't recall a single instance of Thibs souring on one of "his guys". And who exactly is going to be replacing those minutes - Snell? Moore?

The Bulls are the 5th-oldest team in the NBA. Something to keep in mind when watching those minutes pile up in December.

RIP to the end of Derrick Rose's consecutive games streak at 12. Even Iron Men succumb to humanity eventually.

Illness though, not injury at least.

Mirotic is always entertaining, even if the rest of the team is comatose. 4 steals, multiple assists, working hard on defense. He's going to be a star.

Jimmy has been superb, obviously. But 2 minutes rest against the Knicks, with a tough game tomorrow night? Inane.

I sure hope Noah's knee is still bothering him, because the alternative is that he's simply done. He's a shadow of the player he was.

He has been injured. And he's pacing himself. When you play with Gasol, you have another solid big next to you so you don't have to be superman.

I'm getting more and more sure that Deeg has been taken over by that cynosure guy.

Butler and Mirotic are absolutely carrying the Bulls.

Butler has obviously been great. But he's on course to play 46 minutes, and Noah about 41. That's just insane against this terrible team, with a tough opponent on-deck. It's not sustainable, plain and simple.

Noah had surgery during the offseason, and the thought was that he'd be ok for the season, but it was acknowledged that it's still a problem, and he's going to be having to fight it all season. Apparently there's swelling after games...it's going to be a rough season for him.

EDIT: All that said, Thibs says they're more worried about his ankle right now than his knee.

I think it was Cowley who in the preseason said his knee was bone on bone and would be a problem the rest of this season if not his career. Cowley is kind of a hack so I didn't really believe that, and I probably still don't but it's definitely something I keep coming back to when I see Noah struggle.

If last year was peak Noah, it sucks that it had to come in a meaningless season.

Edit: This was from a RealGM thread in October:

Anyways so on 670AM this morning he said Noah's knee was "bone on bone" and this will affect him the rest of his career. He said we targeted Gasol because Noah's future is so uncertain.

I've never seen a big man get down the floor better than Mirotic. He is fun to watch already.

The problem with Noah is that he's had a ton of nagging injuries the last few years. Plantar fasciitis is an injury that I don't think will ever really go away. I've always thought that the peak of his career would, unfortunately, be relatively short because of injuries.

Because of Noah's injuries, Pau being 34, the uncertainty of Butler's future, and the fact that Rose could die at any time, this year (to me, anyway) feels like a Finals or bust season.

maybe his plantar fasciitis was really just "i'm wearing shitty [expletive] garbage ass shoes"-itis

Rose out again tonight. In his 7 year career he's only played in Memphis twice.

Ironically, that's the same number of times he went to class in Memphis too.

Derrick playing 27 minutes per game up to this point.
