The biggest problem with Rose is that he's getting torched on defense - no lateral quickness at all. Against a team like Dallas, that's especially deadly. He also looks pretty disinterested, frankly.

Hard to believe that's the lineup Thibs goes with needing a three, twice in a row. Rose bailed him out once, but how can you not get the likes of Mirotic or Brooks on the floor there? Even Kirk, who'd made two late?

Pick and roll defense in general has been lousy. Guys stepping into rhythm jumpers all over.

Needed to put it away up 5 with ball and a minute left in regulation. That's when butler needs to get to the line and end the game. Not Pau from 3.

That's about as angry as I can be at a regular season December loss. Wanted that one badly.

Rose looks like a decent role player. No explosiveness at all. You'd think if he could get to the bucket he would have done so at least once in the 4th and OTs. But he didn't, he either drove to the FT line and looked for Pau to bail him out or settled for a bad 3.

Maybe it's the hammy bothering him but if that's the case Brooks should have been out there because he could have given more than Derrick did. I know he made the miracle 3 but that doesn't erase 15 minutes of mostly ineffective play.

Rose is definitely scared to drive to the rim at this point. Not calling him a [expletive] or whatever, I don't really blame him after what he's gone through. But that's really what he is at this point. And [expletive] Kirk Hinrich.

That's the other thing. You have Butler in the game who sneezes and gets to the line and instead we have Rose jacking up contested 3s. The offense should be running through Butler (and Pau) until Rose can play at that level.

I'm probably overreacting a little because it's a somewhat meaningless game and the more important thing is getting Rose reps in crunch time minutes...but he just didn't have it tonight. At all. Gotta change things up a bit.

Brooks is a nice spark plug but he plays extended minutes and it becomes a layup line out there

If he can't or refuses to drive to the rim, he's a decent role player at best the rest of his career. I get the being smart thing but being smart is not jacking up 3s. Where is the midrange game? In Roses MVP season and the season before he was lethal at hitting midrange jumpers. He could create space and hit the open shot. He played like a player 4 inches taller than he is because he could create that space. But tonight he was absolutely not a shot creator. His shots came off screens and ball movement.

Also, Noah had nothing left in those OTs and Mirotic was really, really good tonight. Pau also played 50 minutes which is just insane, but you can't really pull him when he was you entire offense in the 2nd OT. The issue there was using him needlessly for 40 minutes in regulation. At this rate, he and Butler will have nothing left by the postseason.

The problem is he's not getting space for those midrange jumpers because no one is respecting the drive. And why should they?

RT @espn_macmahon: Dirk on Kirk Hinrich's foul with 1.2 seconds left in regulation: "In my 17 years, it was one of the dumber fouls I've ever seen."

Rose didn't have a good game by his standards. But everybody is being too hard on Rose for last night. The mavs were smothering rose on the high screen and he dumped it off to Pau for easy looks a bunch of times in the final 15 game minutes last night. He also created an easy dunk for Noah and hit two threes during that span (that's all of the game I saw).

He didn't play great but he wasn't a disaster. Far more troubling was the bulls perimeter d. They let the mavs create Dirk on Rose/butler possessions multiple times down the stretch, and didn't contest jumpers from the wings.

And yea Niko had a good line not sure hy he can't get any minutes, though it looks like Dunleavy was playing very well so that's not really a big deal.

You guys are the [expletive] worst. Just be happy Rose's knees are still intact. Come talk to me if he's healthy and still playing this way in February/March.

I won't be happy if he is a broken down role player just because his knee isn't shattered

Don't worry guys, my ankles are okay. Just need a little ice. Good play by Walker.

He wouldn't be saying that if he had kids
