The Cubs Top 10 comes out at BP tomorrow and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at where Junior Lake lands (hint, it's a single digit)

Do they think he can pitch?

Trey McNutt was a divisive prospect in the initial discussions and there are still some hard feelings but thats what compromise is all about

The Cubs don't have a ton of impact arms in the system but Dillon Maples exists #CubsTop10

Craig Goldstein ‏@cdgoldstein 15m15 minutes ago

Gioskar Amaya is the best middle infield talent in the Cubs system and his ranking reflects as much #CubsTop10

Jay Jackson figures prominently in the #CubsTop10 #hints

On BP's podcast the guys that did the top ten were on, falling over themselves with Almora love. Can't get excited about Almora he was pretty awful in AA. maybe he comes around this year I know he's still young for the level but he didn't really show he could hit at all in Tennesse. They seem so sure he's going to hit and even talked about him possibly growing into more power. I just don't see it. His value as a prospect seems to be carried by his glove but if he keeps hitting like he did in Tennesse (I know small sample size) it won't matter how good is defense is.

Based on your Russell posts, I know you worry about the present stats too much with prospects. You have to allow for projection, especially since this regime provides far better coaching and instruction. I'm my not that high on Almora but it has nothing to do with a short sample at AA where he was young for his level.

(I'm lower on him because he doesn't seem to have elite athleticism or great tools. He has yet to improve his game plan at the plate or his patience, the type of stuff that would help you overcome not having the best physical gifts.)

It's out. Some shockers

Russell

Bryant

Soler

Almora

Schwarber

McKinney

Johnson

Torres

Vogelbach

Sands

Glad to see someone go with Russell over Bryant, but I guess no one will have the courage to go Soler over Bryant.

Vogelbach and Sands in the top 10 is crazy. BP offered Jen-Ho Tseng his best chance to crack the top 10 and it didn't happen.

who's in charge of BP now?

Nick Faleris is doing the Cubs list. It appears they're going with a strategy similar to BA's with different staff doing different teams' lists.

@JHamrahi: For those of you interested, putting together the #Cubs top prospect list at @baseballpro involved upwards of 10 people & 50+ hours of work

@JHamrahi: It was easily the most intense prospect list composition I've ever seen or been involved with...for one damn team :)

Happy to see the McKinney love, that's what jumped out to me first.

Good call. I like seeing McKinney and Torres in the top 8.

Vogelbach was definitely what jumped out to me first.
