If college football reference is correct, it was No. 1 Virginia, No. 3 Nebraska, No. 4 Auburn and No. 5 Illinois. The very next week, three more of the top-6 and four of the top-9 went down as well.

Yeah, I said that last year. If you would have asked me 3 years ago, I would have said Kevin Hogan would be the #1 pick going into this draft. He's actually regressed as a QB. He hasn't corrected his long release. He hasn't figured out how to read more than half the field. He hasn't stopped staring down WRs and forcing throws. But I guess that's not hard to do when the extent of your offense is "Dive left, dive right, counter left" 80% of the time.

I did call it on the Ms schools today, but was dead wrong on LSU. They look bad. Then again, maybe Auburn is just that good.

Probably some of both. LSU needed a Melvin Gordon injury to beat Wisconsin, and Wisconsin isn't that good. LSU is probably the worst team in the West, although still a top 25 team.

Worse than Arkansas? I am encouraged by LSU's inability to stop the run, which plays right into our hands. We get Bama next week, so we'll see.

 

Great win by Ole Miss today, but I'm starting to think the best of the West is Auburn and Miss St. One hell of an Egg Bowl this year.
