Not that I would have preferred the Cardinals, but after the rain game in August the Giants and their fans don't really deserve more nice things.

i like how matheny went to taveras, who has been worse this year against LHP than bourjos has been against RHP. and it also allowed the giants to remove casilla, who had thrown fewer than half his pitches for strikes and was now in a position where he HAD to throw strikes. i'd sure as hell take bourjos with the bases loaded over wild reliever instead of rookie-who-rarely-faced-lefties against affeldt. especially considering the tie game and bourjos' vast advantage defensively. you get a worse matchup, lose a superior defender and burn a position player in a tie game. bad move.

when the giants were facing the nationals, i said that i was really pretty tired of things going the giants' way. amazing how quickly that turned into "God i hope this team wins the NL"

You can keep your bat flips, Travis Ishikawa spiking his batting helmet like a [expletive] football as he rounded third base was the [expletive] best. Eat it forever, st. louis.

I would have rather seen Jeter hit walk off HRs in 4 straight WS games than watch the cardinals go to another series.

carpenter 5

jay 8

wacha 1

peralta 6

descalso 3

grichuk 7

wong 4

cruz 2

taveras 9

with the only players left to pinch hit being pete kozma and aj pierzynski.

Do we want that either, though? A hundred articles from the idiot sportswriters about how Ned Yost flies in the face of sabermetrics and wins based on grit and heart and hustle and all that?

Anything is better than the Cardinals winning.

Crazy that so far we've seen 3 sweeps and 3 series where the losing team wins once. Individual games have been packed with drama, the series as a whole have not.

Is anyone actually doing that? Every writer I know is basically saying "[expletive] it, he's an idiot, but this is fun".

who cares? those are easy to make fun of and maybe if we're lucky, a couple of mlb franchises will decide that they need more grit and bunting instead of players who are actually talented.

Stl fans tweeting insanely homophobic tweets about how Joe Buck of all people is biased in favor of the Giants is the next best thing to the Cubs actually winning a WS, loving this.

That's precious. And just when I thought they couldn't get any further detached from reality.

There's some similarly oblivious ranting going on at GRB.

I know cards fans who turned on Buck when he claimed--during the 2010 WS broadcast--that the last time the Giants won the WS (1954), there were no MLB teams west of the Mississippi.

It's like they had never heard Joe Buck say something [expletive] stupid before.

@Miklasz Matheny, when asked about not using Rosenthal in 9th: "We can't bring him in, in tie-game situation. We're on the road.”

I feel like a lot of you humps are letting a bunch of weird hangups like "sleeping" and "not being a crazy [expletive]" prevent you from properly enjoying the cardinals elimination from the playoffs. Call David a robot of you like, but Gort is stepping up.

i can understand not using him there, although his rationale was lousy. but i really do think that matheny is a pretty bad in-game manager. i wonder if there's any chance of him getting sacked. mozeliak seems like a smart guy and he has to know that matheny is making some pretty glaring mistakes. although he's been to 3 straight NLCS, so they can probably overlook his bad in-game decisions because he consistently gets a lot out of the players he's managing.

Every clip I watched from the NLCS that showed a Giants run scored or home run Joe Buck was deadpan saying stuff like "And Buster Posey has tied this game"

But when Randal Gruichuk hits a game tying home run "And Gruichuk hits it HIGH AND DEEP AND IT'S OUT OF HERE TIE BALL GAME"

The fact that Cardinals fans are ridiculing him is glorious music.
