It would be fun if somebody dug into the lives of all the nfl beat writers and exposed all the arrests duis drug related stuff that came out. There are probably some factors that make an nfl player more likely to do heinous acts off the field but if you took any 1500 grouping of young adult males there's probably a bunch of bad [expletive] in there.

1) That's irrelevant. "Other groups probably have the same issues" doesn't diminish what is actually happening in this group.

2) We have other sports to compare it to, and other sports have their issues too, no doubt (Semyon Varlamov's dropped domestic violence case for one, off the top of my head). But subjectively, it doesn't seem like it's happening with nearly the frequency that it is in the NFL.

EDIT: I guess it's not so subjective after looking at the deadspin link.

Three NBA players have been accused of assaulting their girlfriends in as many days (last year. I hadn't even heard about that back then)

Which is equal to what, 14 NFL players, given the relative sizes of the leagues.

It's morbidly hilarious how many people run with this lazy "shouldn't be surprised when a football player is violent" meme across the internet. So, all football players are inherrently more prone to violence? Even kickers and QB's? How about a return guy? How about a running back with no prior criminal record?

Bills dominating the Dolphins makes me feel ever so slightly better about last week with the Bears I guess.

The fact that the bears, such as they are full strength, will be playing without their offensive playmakers against a good team on the road in front of 40mln tv viewers should make you feel awful.

I'm watching without sound. Any clue why the megaton touchdown didn't count?

Because he dropped it. I don't understand why you'd need sound to see the ball come out.

Matt Ryan is averaging 3.3 yards per attempt, is that good

Anyone watching the Skins? Heard RGIII went down with what appears to be a broken ankle.

Lucky break for them.

I like how some people keep bringing up the national TV thing being so humiliating, like the Bears being terrible would be some kind of secret they could get away with if they were just on locally.

So is RG3 terrible, is Cousins good, or are the Jets just that awful on defense?

the first two are definitely true (well, the 2nd is maybe, the first is definitely)

They're playing the Jags and their D was presumed to be pretty decent - hard to tell though.

Cousins may fit Gruden's system better than RG3, I'm not ready to right Griffin off as terrible yet.

It's a brutal unforgiving sport though. Injuries will kill a career even if they are flukes or whatever else. He's already been through a nearly catastrophic one, we'll see what this one turns out to be.
