Between UMFan & me, it gets pretty bad in here sometimes.

Usually Goony comes in Monday and calms things down but today he's like holy crap we're bad.

Hey we're not the only bad ones, there are a lot of us on Sundays. That's the fun of this thread though, we bitch and moan and make irrational statements, then we all calm down and post normally until the next game starts.

I know it's just one game, but after seeing Seattle the first night something clicked and it was just like, "oh, right, even if the Bears somehow made it to the Super Bowl that's likely the team (or caliber of team) they'd face and they'd likely be destroyed." And yes, the SB is also just one game, but I've already shifted into acceptance mode and anything positive the Bears pull off is just cake.

As much denial I might be in that Seattle is that good, they sure looked damn good on Thursday night. And damn Michael Bennett for not wanting to come to Chicago. That guy is a beast.

Yeah, sample size and all, but man, they are impressive even though they dress like they're a made up team from Any Given Sunday.

SF 35 - Bears 21

I can't get behind this team after their showing last week. Undisciplined or flat-out poor play at LB kills you in a league where the read option and passing game have become offensive staples. Kapernick is certainly capable of showing us both.

On offense I'd like to see us run the ball more and keep Jay at about 30 pass attempts. SF couldn't stop DeMarco Murray (or Lance Dunbar for that matter) at all last week and it might have cost them had Romo not looked like a later-day Rex Grossman. That said, we don't seem comfortable giving Forte 20-25 carries and his back-ups are lucky to see the field. If you are going to limit Jay's throws Carey needs to get the ball 7-10 times. Taking this approach might also serve to limit Kapernick's time on the field.

Happened 6 times last year. 2 more at 19.

If they have leads, they'll run more. If they're behind, they're going to throw more.

Sunday's game was so frustrating. For as bad as the run D looked, they allowed 20 points in regulation, the offense should be able to score more than 20 points against the Bills. Just a terrible game on all fronts from the coaching all the way down.

That being said Bears 24 Niners 23. Nothing to base this prediction on.

Any status on Jeffery?

The all-time QB single game rushing record is 181 set by Kaepernick in the playoffs vs. Green Bay. I predict he breaks it on Sunday night.

49ers 34

Bears 17

I believe this is the game where everyone realizes just how small the improvement has been on D, and just how wrong-headed it was to retain Tucker.

My sense is we will start to fail with the running game D, followed by our DBs coming up and then getting torched as a result. But I also don't think the Bears have any kind of answer for a QB who can run out of the pocket to the outside, and the 49ers have that.

The one thing I can think of to hang our hat on: 49ers played the Boys last week, and I think they are probably even worse on D. I don't think the 49ers are this powerhouse offense. I just think they are significantly better than the Bills, and when we can't stop the 49ers knowing they aren't that dominating it's going to really suck - even that much worse.

Either way it's just bad medicine for us. On the West Coast too. Hits just keep coming. I'll be so shocked if the Bears pull this game out.

Hope & pray for a W the following week in NY. Then some kind of Soldier Field magic against GB to get to .500. Only chance in hell of turning this thing around.

My gut says something along the lines of SF killing us 42-28. The only thing that gives me pause is that the line is staying around 7 despite the public pounding SF. Maybe it will be closer than I think.

The 49er seem to avoid using Kaepernick running extensively unless it's a close or important game.

Obviously with the issues Jared Allen and the LBs had on the zone read, it might behoove them to run Kaepernick but they should be fine using him as a dummy and force feeding Gore and Hyde. But you'd think they could beat the Bears defense without unnecessarily risking his health.

Yeah, the Bears have been hurt by lack of QB contain, but not by QBs running. They've been hurt by RBs running the ball. A lot of that has been on the zone read because the Bears have 0 gap discipline and apparently Briggs is just guessing now.

Briggs is killing me. If you don't want to be a quality player anymore, please just leave. Go run your restaurant.

That's how I feel about him now and it's a shame.

At least I'd get another chance to blame Hendry for a bears loss.

Why not

I'm trying to think back to the last time I was convinced the Bears would lose a game, and they surprised me with a win.

Last year @ Green Bay which started out as McCown vs. Rodgers?
